The only instructions I can find on how to establish a blog is to go to my account page. Once there, my only option is to type in a blog entry, but having tried this multiple times, all I get is a comment saying I can't include clickable links until I've been a member for 5 days. The post vanishes and is not published.

1. I have never entered a clickable link or any link in a post.
2. I have been a member more than 5 days.

I have gone round and round the site looking for a way to solve this, but I give up! Can anyone explain this?

The blogs feature is full of bugs. I suggest you use on of the blogs available elsewhere e.g. wordpress.

The only way I get blog to work is making a short post like subject "Test" content "Test", posting it, then editing it afterwards to have the title and content I really want.
It's a workaround that takes only a minute :) but yes, really avoid the WP blogging if you can. It simply doesn't work and at best is a place to post your thoughts in simple text format.
