they are not dominated by a prison-industrial complex that deliberately favors national policies creating more prison slave labor.

You can buy shares in the prison-industrial complex and make $. They are expanding into immigration.

They have a good medical care delivery system.

They have, as a nation, several things going for them. The have a fairly homogenous population which makes managing a welfare state easier than it is in the United States. The social morel and customs in Sweden keep Free Riders and Deadbeats in check somewhat better than we can manage in the U.S.

Even a welfare state can work if people are willing to work to earn the benefits they receive.

their national educational system does not generally burden Swedish students with a lifetime of debt, either- plus there is a direct linkage between school and work [like in most of Europe] whereas in America it is strictly a haphazard stoke of luck that one will be able to get a job in the same field that one paid 6+ figures to get a degree for- IOW the typical swede can be fairly confident he or she will get an actual return on their educational investment.

This is true, but still, they are a homogenous population with the the dominant social controls of the Lutheran Church, (perhaps not so mmuch now as in the past) Jantelagen, and the concept of Laegom. Usually the last two are what really holds Swedish society togeather. In Norway these same things are expressed as Janteloven and Passe.

I'd like to add, that even though it gives stability to a society, it also sacrifices individuality and punishes innovation, and differance.
