How many other people hated cartoons growing up because of those smug, carefree characters always getting the drop on the frustrated misanthropic characters for the sake of comedy? Like yeah, it's funny the first few times, but when the exact same thing happens every episode and everyone keeps laughing at it, deep down inside you want to see Elmer Fudd blow the crap out of Bugs Bunny? Even nowadays, I can't watch Red Dwarf without empathizing with Rimmer.

Just curious... :)

I had that a few times. Personally, I like it how Rimmer never gets what he wants (I've got all the episodes from series I-VIII and I still laugh at him!). In fact, the only episode I don't like is the one where he switches mids with Lister and stuffs his body up.

EDIT: I also like the one where he uses the Sexual Magnetism drug in series VIII!

Not really. Maybe you're just looking for a reason to be upset.

Oh my god, yes! I hated the Roadrunner, Jerry, and Woody Woodpecker with the white-hot burning hatred of a thousand suns.

Seriously, those cartoons drove me up the wall. To this day I can't watch Tom and Jerry and the sound of Woody Woodpecker's evil, evil hideous laugh makes me want to clutch my heart and scream.

Sometimes I do.

Tom? Who's Tom?

I don't get it how can you guys be watching Red Dwarf? As far as I knew it wasn't being broadcast in the States. A friend sent me a R.D. t-shirt from Britain that said something embarrassing about Kippers on the back and I was like what the hell.

You mean "Smoke me a Kipper, I'll be back for Breakfast?" 8)

It USED to be broadcast in the US. You can find the DVDs lying around in places.

I first saw it on PBS many years ago.

Also plenty of places have it online now.

Tom and Jerry is the worst. The plot never changes, only the devices do. I like bugs bunny because there is at least some dialogue, so that gives an opportunity for a little bit of "complexity", but tom and jerry or road runner and wiley cyote there isnt so its the same thing.

or what about the trix rabbit? They make kids want to eat trix even though the kids are mean to him and won't let him have trix. I mean, even if trix is for kids, why can't they be generous and give this rabbit whose life revolves around trix, just a bowl of trix? theres plenty to go aroung.

I would like trix better if the rabbit got to eat it.

I know the trix example is random, but I guess this is about cartoon plots.

I hated with a passion (and still do) any cartoon where an animal gets hurt. As a cat lover in particular, I loathed Tom and Jerry. I thought Jerry was a spoiled little brat who needed a spanking. Cats seem to be a target of abuse in cartoons ranging from T and J to Beavis and Butthead. Evil!

Just once I wanted to see Wil E. Coyote have roadrunner for dinner...and a couple of those sheep for dessert.
