Am I just being paranoid?
So, there are those two girls that are a year younger than me, and I have caught one of them staring at me, just looking at me, studying me, probably because I'm ugly. Once I was in the caféteria, casually browsing on the internet and then I noticed those two girls looking at me and whispering as they approached me, letting out the occasional giggle. Then they stopped by and asked me if I could take this survey they wrote on pape ,they seemed pretty nice when they asked me, so I did it. Weeks went by without them looking at me like that again.
But today I was in the caféteria and they were laughing along with their group of friends. I thought nothing of it, but then I think that they pointed at me and laughed... I'm just afraid that they are talking about me in a bad way. Am I just being paranoid or what?
Are you female or male? Age is important too, are you like, like 14 or 20? If you're female then I'd think they're laughing at you one of those times you noticed them, although it's hard not to think that someone who's laughed at you once isn't then always laughing at you.
If you're male and you're, like, 14 or under, it's possible one of them likes you instead, or they think you're hot instead of ugly. I guess my own experience is playing into this, because as a girl who didn't dress like most other girls and who was teased by girls often, and of course had the seemingly obligatory low self-esteem about my looks that all girls get these days, I was under the impression that boys too thought the same of me even though I'd have little interaction with them, good or bad. I know now that I misinterpreted at least 1 guy actually liking me as him thinking poorly of me though. I only realized years later.
I dunno, you're a guy and girls seem to care more about how a guy fits in socially than guys about how a girl fits in socially, so if you know you're not one of the 'cool kids' or whatever you want to call them, if they're paying attention to you at all there's a high chance of it being negative.
It's still quite possible none of them have every talked about you and giggled meanly, they they're laughing about something completely unrelated to you. Even if they have, you don't know what they're teasing you about, it's probably something inane and stupid anyways, in which case, you should do your best to shrug it off. They might also be laughing non-meanly. Like I'm only 5 feet, and I once couldn't help but giggle when I was walking besides a girl in my highschool who was well over 6 feet tall. But I didn't mean to mean about it even though she was probably self-conscious about her height.
