Hi guys,

I haven't been here in a while and I'm sorry to come back just to ask this question, but I figured this would be the best place to ask. I know someone just started a "Asperger's Scholarships" topic but mine is more specific.

Tomorrow is my 20th birthday. After taking a year and half break from school, I am starting college in January, at Humboldt State U in California. I am majoring in international business and probably a double major or minor in either French or geography.

My family is very poor, I'm getting the maximum Pell Grant ($5,635) and also $2,000 per year trust fund from my mom's aunt and uncle, but I could still be looking at 5-figure loans for each of my 4 years. Now this isn't a debt that I'm unwilling to commit to, because from what I know, my degree has potential to be very marketable so paying it off won't be impossible. But still, I'm looking for alternative ways to pay and Asperger's seems to be the #1 thing about me that could land me a scholarship.

And I'm really just now starting the search for AS scholarships. I did about average in high school - 2.7 GPA and 24 on the ACT. What I do have is several counselors and psychologists, from school and the private sector, who saw the best in me and could write a letter of very high recommendation if needed.

I know starting in January disqualifies me for most any scholarship for the 2013-2014 school year, but that's OK, the focus will be on fall '14 and beyond. My school offers scholarships depending on major - not really for freshmen, but for students who have already been established and presumably with a high GPA. My goal is to have as high of a GPA as possible, and always be looking for opportunities like internships, study abroad, and of course scholarships. It seems like scholarships for sophomores and upperclassmen are more abundant and worth more money - is this true?

The first website I've come across for this kind of thing is called The Lime Network. Does anyone have experience with them? They seem to be very professional and to have some very lucrative opportunities - scholarships and perhaps even more important, job placement with big name companies. I'm registering for that now.

So my questions are these. Has anyone here, in college or graduated, gotten such a scholarship or any scholarship in general? Where did you get it through? Please don't just tell me to use Google, I'm already doing that, if someone can share some real experience with this then I'll be very, very thankful.
