Today in Economics I was yelled at to stop reading about Nash's Equilibrium on the Internet and just pay attention to my notes...on equilibrium. I wasn't typing, or clicking my mouse, or doing anything to make any noise---the pens around me were making more noise--but apparently "I" was distracting the class by quietly reading an essay on equilibrium in order to understand what the professor was saying. Apparently, my browsing the Internet was like reading a newspaper in class...
I sent her a polite email later asking her if it was the actually reading of the paper or the noise associated with the paper that caused the distraction, and then pointed out that it was highly probable that the class was only disrupted when she drew attention to my unapproved reading.
