A while back, I ordered a framed piece of trinitite (the glass created from desert sand in New Mexico by the Trinity test) and some other stuff from a scientific supply company. It is (very) slightly radioactive, so it will arrive with the suitable hazmat label on the box. Some of the other stuff was backordered, so it finally shipped Thursday and will be here on Tuesday.

Also on Thursday, I ordered a case of ammo for one of my rifles. It's cheaper in bulk, and quite frankly the local stores only carry the full metal jacket target version of the ammo, not the soft point hunting or defensive variety.

So, at some point this coming Tuesday, UPS will be delivering me a case of rifle ammo and a box with a big ol' sticker saying "Radioactive Materials"... I suspect that Jack Bauer will be kicking in my door shortly thereafter. 8O

No, you were already under surveillance, so they know the story. :)

Well, he might. Do you really think that Jack Bauer would be able to keep Chuck Norris at bay?

My dad, a federal civil servant, was interviewed by the CIA when he built a boat capable of sailing across the ocean. He said the CIA are a bunch of... well, you get the idea. :)

Not if they actually have detailed book-keeping. The rifle stuff may be a worry, but I don't think trinitite will be as worrying. I mean, can you make a dirty bomb with glass? It'd be impractical, IMHO.

Talking of things I've been waiting for, I put an order through the ABC shop for Doctor Who: The Shooting Scripts, which is the script book for the first of the new series/ I put the order on on Boxing Day. The website for the ABC shop said 2-3 weeks. I asked a few weeks ago, and they said it may take 4-6 weeks! It is now 6.5 weeks, since I ordered it. I have a gift voucher screaming to be used, but the coprocephalic imbeciles haven't got the book delivered. Next week, I am ringing the ABC shop (who promised to call me when it was delivered, which is good of them, considering I have rung 1-2 times a week asking for the book) and asking them how I may contact the publisher, so I may express my opinion of their services in the most forthright and blunt of manners.

I was thinking more on what the driver might report after he looks up the markings on the heavy box combined with the radiation symbol on the other one. But I should be ok in the long run. It's not like I'm ordering anything with the Mooninites from Aqua Teen Hunger Force on it!

You should tell them that if they don't ship it by, like, tomorrow, you will report them to the FBI cybercrime unit for fraud. The FBI have a website where you can easilly do this, and I'm sure they are aware of that. I had really good success with that when a webshop hadn't shipped my stuff for weeks and weeks, within two days of telling them this it was shipped. heh heh heh.....
Good luck!

An excellent plan, with only three drawbacks:

One, I haven't paid for it. I intend to do so with a voucher that I got for Christmas.

Two, I ordered it through a physical shop by ringing 'em up.

Three, I live in Australia, and so I can't exactly get help from the FBI. I'm not sure the AFP will go after this either.
