Can you share tips on how you helped your kids gain receptive language ? Thanks ! !

How old is your child? I found teachmetotalk.com was fantastic for ideas and activities to help with expressive and receptive language. It is more for younger kids though. Talkingpoint.org.uk has some good ideas for older kids.

He is 4 but developmentally 18 months old. Thank you for pointing me to those sites ! !

my son always had speech, but was behind his peers. He got speech 4x a week in pre school, and he picked up what he was lacking quick that way. he also loved to learn phrases from tv shows and movies! He loved learning laptop and electronic toys, and as he got more and more speech we expanded on it.

You can use sign language for simple words like more, food, thank you, etc.

This builds up language skills until the verbal ability catches up.

The one sign language my son learnt which he still uses is 'more' (tapping chest) which he also uses for 'I want'. Quite useful.
I am also still teaching him to point at age 7, it is an alien concept for him but that of course is a useful skill too.
