Java Chatroom

Hey all

I'm having trouble using Java (option 1) to enter the chatroom. When I try to enter, I get this error:

Has anyone had this before? I can't make heads or tails out of it :/

I was also wondering why I can't say U-R-L in my post. It's not an actual U-R-L, right?

I don't think that's ever worked reliably - your best option is to download an IRC client, or maybe try this web-based one:

The oddity with saying "URL" will likely vanish once you've exceeded five posts.

When I try to use the web-based IRC-client, I do end up on the wrongplanet channel, but I end up in an empty room. I have already registered my nickname, so that's probably not the problem :/

Also if the Java chat never really works, wouldn't it be better to remove the sentence that says "The Java applet interface is the easiest way to get chatting."?

I just had a quick peek but as I have no registered nickname, the effect was very similar to being in an empty room... Are you certain your nick registration completed Ok?
I suppose it's possible that there was, in fact, no-one on when you looked - I've barely used the chatroom so I can't say what sort of activity might be expected. It's also run independently from Wrong Planet the web site and the moderators here have no jurisdiction there, but I think WP member LuckyBunny is, or at least was, a ChatOp there so you might try a PM if you're unable to get any further.
That probably refers to a time when it once worked - but unfortunately, as in life, there are many things here which aren't as logical as they should be.
