I'm Polish and live in Poland. But i wonder what the British flag would be look when Scotland leave UK.

When i learned English as foreign language in school, we have lesson about British flag, we learned English in it's British version, the teacher told us that UK flag symbolize union between England and Scotland.

So i ask what new British flag would be look, because using old one would be little politically incorrect, don't you agree :D

Excellent question!

I have not thought about that. My bet is that it does not change. It would be extremely costly to do so, and I think few people today know or care much about the current flag's origins.

But then, I am an American, so I have a most uneducated sense of how those in the (current) UK view this question.

While the departure of Northern Ireland would present a simple change to the Union Flag, through its restoration to the pre-1801 version, the removal of the Scottish Saltire would create an unrecognizable banner.

Further, the removal of the saltire would raise the question about whether St. David's cross should be added--and I'm telling you that would be one ugly flag if you replaced all the blue with black and put a yellow border around St. George's Cross...

Here's an article on it:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-25205017

I like the flag with the white upper half and green lower half, the Welsh flag should have some representation. Of course having the dragon in it would be great but I'm not sure it'll fit in a design with all those red bars.

If Scotland maintains the monarchy then I imagine they'll keep the flag unchanged.

No, it's not about the monarchy. It's about what countries are in the Union.

At the moment it's:

England (and Wales)
Scotland
(Northern) Ireland

Yeah!

You ARE confused!

For the last two Centuries Scotland has been part of the 'United Kingdom'.

So called because it consists of England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland ( but London- ie England- really rules the roost).

Scotland has its own regional government, and its own legal system. But its not a soveriegn country with its own armed forces. The US president does not make state visits to Edinbourgh, but to London.

If Scotland leaves, then unfortunately for them the days of Ulster's membership is numbered.

England is too far away and too culturally disconnected for it to make sense.

There is a reason why the Ulster Unionists onced referred to Alex Salmond as 'worse than Hitler'.

I am rather jealous of Scotland. I wish some sort of secession package was on the table for us too, unfortunately the Unionists are idiot pawns.

I think they should just keep it the way it is.
