If you need to talk to someone to arrange an appointment for something but they are in a conversation with someone else...

They ask you if you want to speak to them and you say that in a minute or so is fine as you see they are busy with someone else.

They make you wait 15-20 minutes outside until they speak to you when you want to leave the place you are in, actually coming outside and talking to the person they have been spending all that time conversing with right in front of you, and then spending five minutes serving someone else and showing them their new website, not once apologiisng.

When you do finally get to talk to them, they pretty much want to deal with you as quickly as possible and seem desperate to get away from you. in fact telling you that their earlier advice of arranging an appointment (which you waited 20 minutes to try to do) is not necessary.

Perspectives?

Person sounds like an arse.

What do you need this person for? Ditch this person and look for a replacement if one is available.

I really hate that. When they know you're waiting, they know you're in a hurry, but carry on their conversation anyway. It just seems rude to me.

if they asked me if i wanted to speak to them i would answer "yes" and proceed to do so. i would not kowtow to them.

there is no way i would wait for them to finish their chat if i need to speak with them.

i resent having my time wasted, and waiting, in my opinion, is a waste of time.

You gave them the chance to carry on their conversation making you look like a doormat, so they carried on as much as they wanted to. They probably saw your annoyed expression and then wanted to get away.

Normally I would not do that but this person is a relative (I understand that they are busy, but still - it's pretty off) and the conversation was work-related.

Perhaps they actually forgot about you, and then were embarrassed when they realized it. Then they blamed you for making them feel embarrassed.
That's one possible scenario, anyway.
