Argh, alex. Did you have to put those word-link adverts back in?? They're SOOOOO annoying. I thought WP was over that phase. It didn't go over well the first time.

You can opt out of them... when the balloon thing comes up click on "options" or something, follow the link and opt out.

I agree that they are very tacky :(. I think there are better ways to raise money.

Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you. Those were giving me a headache. Well, making the current headache worse.

More in-depth instructions on how to disable:

Hover over one of the double-underlined green words.
Click on question mark.
New page opens, towards the bottom there is a FAQ button.
Look below that, and there should be a disable link.
Click link, any pages loaded should now be free of these annoyances.

"Oh no" is what I said when I came here today & saw the dreaded "intellitext" (?!) mess overlaying all the posts. Not cool, IMO. I'm really snarly now, about this unanticipated & negative change, I happen to thrive on and enjoy consistent, reliable, simple qualities. Big sigh.
The convoluted instructions for opting out are too complex for me, plus I don't trust that clicking on a pesky pest of an ad is going to make it leave me alone-it'll just get more cookie action. Not interested in wasting my time being dragged down bottomless rabbit holes clicking these blasted ads ! My pop-up blocker is outwitted by these dastardly so & so's.
Fine, I'll write in ALL green then.

They're a distraction and they disrupt the flow of the prose.

Not impressed....

My solution is I edit the site preference in my web bowser to disable javascript for
wrongpanet.net . I have only noticed one problem with this: I can not click on the Emoticons and get them to paste to my posts. So I have to manually put them in my posts instead. The problem I had was this flickering that drived me crazy.

The flickering ads drive me bloody batty. When I'm trying to type a post, and all I can see is this flashing thing above the text box, then I just can't type. To get rid of it I try moving the text box, lower, but what do I see then? Yet another flashing ad on the left! So now I've got one ad flashing red and green above the text box, and another ad flashing yet different colors below! ARGH! Am I the only one who is hypersensitive to these flashing ads?

I tried disabling javascript and I'm still getting some flashing. If anybody else knows how to prevent them, please share!

Am I the only one that is driven to madness by certain ads?

And the worst is when the one above the textbox is flashing, so you scroll the window down, and...the one to the left is ALSO flashing, so you're stuck being unable to type because now both boxes are flashing.

Hello?

This is a site for people who have autism spectrum disorders, is it not? And there is a higher proportion of people here who have seizures than the general population (would you like a citation for that because I could find at least 100 in my academic research portal as a nursing faculty member) AND it has also been shown that optical stimuli can CAUSE a seizure (again, citation not needed as this is pretty much general knowledge). It is therefore grossly irresponsible, in my opinion, to have flashing ads on this site.

I would boycott it on that basis alone, but it does have other redeeming features (such as Sophist - mwah)
