Yep, Roland Emmerich wants to make a double sequel to the 1996 Box Office Bomb: Independence Day, which will more than likely fall on it's ass since Will Smith isn't going to be in it but it will have your favorite cable guy genius who knows how to hack Alien technology, Jeff Goldblum in it XD

So far (if it's even made), the sequel will involve a plot of alien ships coming back to take over earth or blow more major cities up, even though they already did , and one has to wonder how these aliens prepared for round two ...

My theories:

The alien ships boarded up or got rid of their super nuclear thermo-blasters they used to annihilate big cities and they installed a firewall so that even super hacker/ genius cable guy, Jeff Goldblum couldn't even hack it.

Remember when that suicidal depressed pilot sacrificed himself for the greater good of mankind ? and remember when Jeff Goldblum's character got the idea of a virus/Trojan horse that could disable the mother ship that he got from his father telling him that he'll catch a cold ?

Well this time, the aliens are better prepared .... Their using the Iptables firewall and using Linux technology, none of that MS Windows crap!

What about Will Smith's absence (brilliant move right there) ? Will his son is grown up and I bet you anything he has the same awesome abilities to find love interests in the dark, without any indication of their location, and know where they are at any given time. Hell I bet he'd be even funnier than his dad was

So, would this be a movie I'll look forward to watching if it comes out ?

Hell yes ! I can't wait to have fun laughing at the sheer stupidity of how this movie would turn out Actually it does sound fun XD

Indeed. I never liked it when they wait so long to release a sequel.

Bill Pullman said the aliens' whole civilization was involved. The mothership was blown up. What could be left?

Maybe all the aliens onboard the ships didn't die instantly when they crashed? It's possible.

My bet: it's a new alien race, not the same one from the first film.

Hollywood is out of ideas.

I'll pass.

I'll wait for a trailer before making an informed decision.
