Shikasta-novel by Doris Lessing, anybody read it?
Have you read the novel Shikasta by Doris Lessing? It's scifi. It's about a race of people who go to other planets to influence the course of history or evolution. Part of going to these planets involves having to adapt to the sensations one will experience on a given planet. The novel centers around someone coming to Earth, but the guy who has to come to Earth talks about Earth having the worst, most intense sensory stimulus of any planet. You could really imagine it as a metaphor for ASD, or at least see the similarities. Shikasta is the first of a series. I haven't read the others. If you've read it, I'd love to know what you thought of it. If you haven't read it, maybe you'll be interested from my description.
