I'll watch just about anything, so I'm always on the lookout for something new. Share some of the less mainstream films you've enjoyed. I'll start with The Holy Mountain by Alejandro Jodorowsky. The film was produced by the guy who produced The Beatles albums, and due to a falling out with the filmmaker, he held onto the rights and refused to distribute the film. So, Jodorowsky had to illegally show his own movie until very recently.

Here's the trailer:

The whole thing is on youtube, though I recommend downloading it from Piratebay if you can find a torrent with the bonus stuff.

Full movie was up, I don't think it's on there anymore.

You can rent or buy most of Jodorowsky's films, so recommending that people illegally download them seems wrong to me.

I've seen:
Fando y Lys
Santa Sangre
El Topo

and
The Holy Mountain

Jodorowsky himself made some very negative comments about how Tusk turned out, which made me not care about seeing it.

Other notably bizarre films include:
Akira
Pi
The Doom Generation
Shortbus
Oldboy (2003)
City of Women
Paprika
The Forbidden Zone
The Magic Christian
If...
O Lucky Man

Get a free trial of Netflix, and you can probably watch most of them in a month. Brace yourself for a weird month.

There be no weirder movie than Funky Forest.

Yes. Its Japanese.

You won't thank me after you watch it. Your brain will be caught in too many 'wtf' loops. Probably trigger catatonia.

I guess no list of weird movies can leave out this one, either:
Iron Man Tetsuo

Walkabout was a pretty bizarre and experimental film in its own way, but it really needs watching rather than explaining. In short, a father drives his two children out to the Bush and attempts to kill them for reasons unknown; the children run for it and are left to their own devices, wandering around in the remote Australian wilderness. It gets kind of weird after that...

Good suggestions. Definitely gotta see Gummo and damn jrjones, I've got my homework cut out for me now!

At one point The Alchemist (who is played by Jodorowsky himself) cracks open a stone and pulls out a glass ball and says "this rock has a soul which took millions of years to form" (or something like that), and also The Prostitute carries one around her neck. So, I think overall the movie is about the evolution of the soul, but there's a lot of commentary by the filmmaker on the history in Mexico, Christianity, and war.

Here's one for the fans of Japanese films, the whole thing is on youtube if you click here.

The one's pretty trippy. Not recommended for epileptics!

For weird movies, I'll go to my old standby of David Lynch movies, in particular -

Blue Velvet
Eraser Head
Wild At Heart
Lost Highway
Among others.

But Guy Madden also deserves mention, with -

The Saddest Music In The World
Brand On The Brain
Just to name a few.

David Lynch, of course, all weird movies. I'll have to check out those Guy Madden flicks.

This is a weird one,

I haven't seen every David Lynch movie, but I found Mulholland Drive weirder than (but inferior to) Blue Velvet and Wild at Heart.

To be sure, it was, as was Inland Empire.

Inland Empire had some interesting moments, but it took too long to say too little, in my opinion.

I agree. David Lynch could have edited out the long walks down shadowy corridors, and kept the integrity of the movie.
