Many (possibly all) local and/or regional governments within the UK offer a wide range of courses and classes for adults (often referred to as "adult education" or "lifelong learning"). In some (possibly all) cases, this includes free courses in GCSE English and mathematics for UK nationals (and other EU citizens). To find out if this is the case in your area, check the website of your local government and/or contact their adult and community learning/education service. Information on these courses can often also be obtained from your local library and/or your local Job Centre.
