It is "known" in the medical community that most people with Autism or Asperger's have poor communication skills. It is also "known" that many people with Autism or Asperger's suffer from stress. The current assumption is that people with Autism or Asperger's have poor communication skills and that this occurs with or without stress. That there is no correlation between stress and communication. I am wondering what your thoughts are. If you take some time to think, do you see where having poor communication skills and thus being misunderstood caused you stress or have you noticed that possibly being under stress caused you to have poor communication skills? I ask because I have noticed a pattern in my life, where for years I did not have as much stress and nobody questioned my communication skills, yet once the continuous stress was placed on my life, my communication skills seem to have also gone down the tubes in the eyes of those around me.

All the time. I find it hard to know how to balance saying what I really mean and saying what is appropriate to social convention.

For me it is both way. My communication skills causes me stress and the stress makes my communication even worse.

Stress has a big negative influence on my ability to communicate effectively. My wife and my boss are quite aware of this and they consider and accomodate this when communicating with me - and I am quite grateful that they do.

For me, its a two way street. I get stressed out when I have to communicate (esspecially have authority figures) and I because I am stressed I have hard time communicating.

I can see that this is way I've haven't been able to through job interviews.

I often become semi verbal and occasionally nonverbal when I am stressed, anxious, and/or having a sensory overload.

So tuesday night I went to see the "jerry garcia symphonic" thing. In this case warren haynes playing with the boston pops at the symphony hall.
So during the set break I turned around and asked the person in the setat behind me if they felt like they were at the symphony or at a Dead/ JGB show(my significant other was telling me that I should be wearing a tie, I wore a steal your face t-shirt under a button down shirt that had a GD skull and roses embroidered above the pocket. We talked breifly about the music, and then I made a joke about having been born too late to write the book about growing up with aspergers as the son of a professor at a state University in New England (John E. R, Tim P.). I have my own stories about growing up in storrs, but the statute of limitations has not quite run out.
but back to the point, so my new aquaintence laughed way to long when I indirectly mentioned "look me in the..."

I will just fall back on the adage that "good people like good music"
