It was coincidental that his surname happened to match two other mad scientists.

I'd roll with it. For Klaus, the Krieger family name could have a long and proud history with science and one of the driving motivations would be to keep it going.

He's a teenager, AND... a convicted serial killer?

But he's allowed to practice psychiatry?

Thats too much of stretch.

You gotta modify some of the details.

But you could fashion him into a cult leader.

It's crazy enough that it works, the part about him being a teenaged serial killer psychotherapist I mean. I will admit that it's not the most original idea though, because wasn't Hannibal Lector a therapist of some sort in The Silence of the Lambs, despite being imprisoned?

There's nothing wrong with it though. Hannibal Lecter is an awesome character, and when you really think about it, it's nearly impossible to come up with any sort of fictional ideas that are entirely "original". Most works of fiction draw upon dozens, if not hundreds or thousands of prevalent tropes, and the key to making something compelling is to come up with your own spin on those tropes.
