I don't like learning about things as much as I like thinking about things, but anything related to astronomy really turns me on.

I crave stimulation. This can and sometimes does include learning. The learning may just be reading a news article, or it may be a skill.

The three A's- the three thing I considered majoring in- Anthropology, Astronomy, and Art, all turn me on. But none earn you a living.

I enjoy anthropology/anthropology; I enjoy astronomy as well. As for visual art, I can't do it, but I can appreciate it.

I don't make a living out of any of those things--Alas!

How are the tools coming along, Bumble? Also: I just thought of something: do you have your driving licence?

When I watch a nature documentary I find myself wanting to learn, well... up until the point where the gazelle gets eaten alive by ravenous hyenas, then I shut it off and stick my head back in the sand, because I don't want to learn.

and yes, you can find youtube videos of the above thing, that stuff disturbed me for about a week. Don't do it.

Now, the only 'nature documentaries' I watch are on the disney channel featuring animal voice overs and comedy for all ages!

I love learning sports like skiing and biking and kayaking.

The bummer is: the hyenas are not eating the gazelle to get brownie points; they're eating the gazelle in order to survive.

I have bad school memories myself--very bad memories.

School, to me, has little to do with the love of learning. Learning is, for the most part, independent of school, though school provides a certain structure.

I wouldn't let what goes on in school affect my love of learning.

What was wrong with school? I had bad experiences there too but now am wondering what others bad experiences were.

I always had didactic, not Socratic instructors. The emphasis was on discipline, rather than the love of learning (perhaps out of necessity--NYC is a very big place). This changed somewhat in high school: I went to a "liberal" high school for "gifted underachievers," where the student had some say-so in the classroom.

My vision of elementary school was of a place which reeked of sulphur stinkbombs.
