Deleting threads?

I would like to know is there an option to delete threads that I have? I would like to know what is your opinion on this and is it possible?

Threads are only deleted upon the request of the OP provided they contain highly personal or sensitive information about that member. Other than that threads are only removed if they break the site rules.

Some threads get locked, and others get deleted. I never understand why, because often a locked thread has as much bigotry or other things that break the site rules. Sometimes it can be a little annoying when I post a reply to an interesting thread and nobody's broken any of the site rules on the thread, and then a bit later I log back on and see what new replies there are to the thread I posted on, and it's suddenly vanished.
