I'm curious:

Why is little mention made of cartoons which aired prior to 1980?

There was so much good stuff back then.

Bugs Bunny, the Road Runner, Elmer Fudd, Porky Pig, Daffy Duck---never mentioned!

Yogi Bear, Boo Boo, Ricochet Rabbit, Quick Draw McGraw/El Kabong, Hong Kong Phooey, Penelope Pitstop, Snagglepuss--never mentioned!

Does anybody have any swell recollections related to these, and other characters from the 1930's to the 1970s?

When I was growing up in the seventies, I use to love the bugs bunny road runner hour.

Yeah....I liked it how all the characters lined up in size place, like we did in school.

Tweety Bird was the first in line; Foghorn Leghorn was the last.

Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck did a Fred Astaire/Gene Kelly type thing.

Talk about Bullwinkle!

Great satire on the Cold War!

The ones in bold, I've still seen mentioned. I used to watch some the old Warner Brothers cartoons in the '80's, including Bugs Bunny, Elmer Pudd and Daffy Duck. They are also characters in the '90's cartoon series Tiny Toons, which created after Warner Bros started up their animation studios again, after they had closed down for a while. I still see characters like Bugs Bunny on cereal boxes.

I remember growing up during the 70s with Bugs/Road Runner and all Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies. Also grew up with Speed Buggy, Josie and the Pussycats, Superfriends, Hong Kong Phooey, Tarzan and the Super 7, Space Academy, and the Krofft Supershow (Dr. Shrinker, ElectraWoman and DynaGirl, Wonderbug). Speaking of Sid and Marty Krofft, I don't seem to recall watching H.R. Pufnstuf or Land of the Lost, though both are enourmously popular among the "krofft-heads".
I miss those toons, but good thing so many of them are out on DVD to re-live with.
