My name is L.... I am a 24 year old woman striving to be the best I can be & be the change I want to see in the world.

My parents knew something was wrong around 18 months old. I wasn't developing properly. Health professionals explained it as bad parenting & a bratty child.

I was diagnosed when I was 7 years old. I met the criteria for classic autism but I could do things I could only do with a high IQ. My IQ score was low but I had a family history of high IQ. As a result I was given the label high functioning autism. As a result of this conflict I have struggled with issues on both ends of the spectrum. My mom likes to say I have a foot in two worlds.

I was also diagnosed with sensory processing disorder and mixed receptive expressive language disorder. I have a history of childhood grand mal seizures among other minor/moderate health issues.

I am in my senior year at a university where I am majoring in behavioral science with a focus in psychology and a minor in criminal justice.

Other info: continuation of questions about you topic
Books--Fire Pony, Harry Potter
TV shows--House, Phineas and Ferb, Stargate Sg1 & Atlantis
Movies--Down Periscope, Anastasia, Tears of the Sun

I don't really care for sports but I played sports growing up. I did tennis, gymnastics, & softball (2yrs). I watch Olympic figure skating when I can. I did 3 years of Tae Kwon Do (halfway to black belt) as a teenager.

Job:
I am a supplemental instructor for the freshmen program at the university I go to. The job is a semester long so you get (re)hired every fall/spring semester. This fall will be my fourth semester at the job. My job as supplemental instructor is to act as a model student in class & provide two study sessions a week. The study sessions are for review, test prep, study skills development, etc. It is not tutoring, the supplemental instructor provides support & guidance.

Future Plans:
I will graduate next spring with my bachelors. (see above) My plan is to take 2-3 years off to reorient myself, increase my savings and gain experience. Afterward I plan to get a master's in behavioral science/teaching. My career goal is to be a teacher/lecturer in a combined field of disability, criminality, and behavioral science. Possibilities include a college professor & lecturer for associations like USAAA.
