All right.... I see your point. But in my personal life, a cup has always been 8 ounces. Even of yoghurt.

I've already accepted the other premise.

Whatever you use in your daily life feels more ?human?. It works for unit systems as well as it does for languages. Whatever you?ve only seen used by machines feels ?robotic? and ?unnatural?, and tends to make you wonder how there can be people made of flesh and bone who speak that :) It?s all a matter of perspective.
