I wanted to get some opinions regarding politics and political views of some fellow members. I'm specificlaly looking to get some information on political views of fellow Aspies, but this conversation doesn't seem to have a direct link to Asperger's and autism, at least not an obvious one to me, hence, the reason why I post this in the "random discussion" forum. Allow me to begin by sharing my own views. I am a die-hard Republican, and a strong supporter of the Bush Administration. No, I'm not saying that U.S. President Bush has never made any mistakes, or even avoided making any serious mistakes, but I also can see very strongly from his point of view, and that what happens in his administration in office is going to have beneficial effects after he leaves office, although we probably won't truly recognize most or even any of them until long after his final term is over. I know this is a very unpopular opinion in today's world, and I don't mean to offend or insult anyone who feels otherwise, which I'm sure there are many such people here, I'm just starting this discussion by sharing my own views, and I'm very much open to all views, ranging from those a million miles from my own, to those that may agree with me in any way, even those who feel somewhat like I do although not entirely the way I do. So no matter what your political views are, I'd like to hear them and get some feedback. And no, I won't be offended by anything anyone has to day here, so don't worry about unintentionally insulting me. Likewise, try not to feel offended by my views, because I'm open to all.

I have a human friend like you. Extremely right-wing. But even he has realized that Bush is a traitor and should be impeached.

I am a Libertarian personally. I am not smart enough to presume to tell you how to live your life.

My political theory is very complex, but it is based on logic and stability, not a free market, but a well planned economy (no tax, it is obsolete), which has rewards and incentives for the hard working, but a minimum standard of life guaranteed. This not only stops criminals, but it is very fair to everyone. It's very hard and time consuming for me to explain in detail.

Anarchist. I have been liberal to the point of being a commie. I have been extreme right. At this point I have no utopia, and would leave each to his own.

I am conservative. I support Bush, but only when he is a Republican. He seems to try to make the liberals happy, which is an excercise in futility, even for a liberal but especially for him.

I think a lot of our problems come from the government not letting capitalism do what it should do. Especially in the field of medical care. We heavily restrict the people who can enter the field which puts doctors at an artificially high demand, reducing quality and increasing cost. We also allow patents on medicine thereby allowing a monopoly whenever a drug company comes up with a new drug.

Dictatorship

I propose that the Commandant of the Marines be given total power for ten years. Nothing else will clean up this mess. After a decade in exile, political parties, lobbyists, most of the Civil Service, will be history. Then we can start over. Send it to Reboot Camp!

A few good men are enough. We will still be here, and the Constitution will be preserved.

Mostly like anubis' ideas though politics in general makes me run and hide because it seems to be about taking sides and arguing pointlessly instead of ideas and constructive debate.

There is a political forum just for this. I am a libertarian conservative. I definitely distrust socialism and dictatorship.

I am afraid to say I stay well away from politics and politicians. I find them exceedingly annoying. Maybe I should take an interest in how the country I live in is run...but ah well. I suppose I take the view that.. I cannot change it, so why get myself in a knot over it all?
