Blog not posting. Frustrated. Thanks.
I'm trying to post something in the WP blog that is provided with my account... I thought?
I only was putting text in the text window and submitted.
Then it was telling me I couldn't put links in the blog entry until I had been a member for five days.
The two issues with this are:
I have been a member since May.
I was only doing plain text, not anything that even remotely resembled links.
I tried a few times.
I don't know who I am supposed to contact at this point or where to go to find that out and I feel like I huge pain trying to find out where to find that out. I wanted to blog because I'm not sure where to go to actually like, post about stuff and felt like anywhere i'd post might not be right?
Um. So overall I can't figure anything out and I feel like a nuisance posting this in trying to figure out any of it. heh.
Please advise.
Thank you.

The blogging function of WP doesn't work very well and as this version of the forum software is no longer under active maintenance, it never will.
The best option would be to use a dedicated, external blog and link to it via your profile settings.
WordPress seems popular, here: http://wordpress.com/ or through Google: www.blogger.com/
If you wish to persevere anyway you may find the information in this thread useful:

Oh, ok. I wasn't aware of the blog situation.
Is this noted in a more obvious place?
ETA: Speaking of forum software... I'm getting a lot of error messages re: topics, search, etc.
Is this common and having to do with what you mentioned [no longer updating]?
Thank you!

The problem with the blogs isn't noted anywhere formal, mostly as answers to posts made here asking about it - I think there are a few still visible.
TBH I don't think many people make much use of the built-in blog - by today's standards of the many free blogging systems available, it's limited in operation and very primitive.
The site software is over ten years old and has been pushed well beyond anything it was really designed to handle, so there are more than a few signs of it creaking - usually appearing as error messages. A modern replacement for it is being worked on but there is no estimate of when it will be ready for general use.
In many cases when errors are generated, where the operation is one of reading only (looking through posts, say), clicking the browser's page refresh/reload button is often enough to correct it but it does sometimes require more than one refresh.
When submitting a post and receiving an error, pressing the browser's "back" button to return to the edit window and then clicking the "Preview" button will allow you to see if the post was correctly submitted - below the preview of your post is a view of the thread and if your submission was actually successful, the post should be visible on the thread.

Ok, thank you so much. This is really really helpful.
I'm just trying to get a feel for what is reasonable expectation for forum software at this point and what might be worthy of attention- I've not used something like this before.
This was super helpful!
