Hello perfect thread for me,
I feel that door latches are good to have, to keep the door shut and keep warm air out in summer, and cold out in winter,
weatherstripping can have alot to do with it as well
there are numbers of levels of security when it comes to locks/ latches/deadbolts, some designed for commercial/industrial/detention facilities and locks/hardware that are designed for home/residential use on your house,
if your in the states, if you want security for the house, Schlage is a recommended lockset for household doors, if a commercial door (storefront door or school. Medeco may be your best bet, as it has more security features then a household lockset.
and what I say many times, what good is the high end lock if the door don't close?? may also be recommended to get a door closer, to make sure the door closes, same with those, there are high end closers and there are low end closers, features change as the "duty" becomes more heavier duty, (you would not want a screen door closer on a vault door, underkill) or a LCN 4040XP on a small lightweight screen door on a house (thats overkill!)
Jamesy, is locks/door latches an interest of yours or is it just a random question of how we feel about latches and their use?
-Jess
