This thread is for all of those TTTE fans to discuss the show, the Railway Series and even fan series like WildNorWester's Sodor the Early/Modern Years.

If you happen to be a member of Sodor Island Forums(SiF) you probably know me as "edwardsstation"

Oh, I'm a fan of the old episodes with Ringo Starr and George Carlin. I don't care for the way it is done now.

Not a Thomas fan that much anymore (due to age), but when I was younger I loved the show. Really enjoyed the ones with Alec Baldwin's voice over, enjoyed some George Carlin, do not really care about the Michael Brandon shows from about 2003 on. I think Sprout still airs Thomas and Friends, but it may all be newer episodes - it used to be a mix of Baldwin, maybe a Carlin, and newer Brandon episodes years ago.

I used to enjoy Thomas when I was little, especially the ones from the Ringo days. According to the National Autistic Society, lots of autistic children have a special relationship with the show: http://www.autism.org.uk/about-autism/o ... ngine.aspx

I lived and breathed ttte up until my mid teens (with all of my etrl toys still with me to prove it). I prefer the real thing these days, but I do find myself on the wiki every so often.

I was too old when I first saw Shining Time Station to enjoy it but the question I always had about the show is: Just what is are the trains trying to teach kids? It seems like all they do is complain, for example, Thomas got a new rail line and Percy didn't and Sir Top of Hat is upset. Seems like it just teaches kids how to be petty NTs.

I loved Thomas when I was a child. The trains were funny and cute, the show was good, their names were exotic since Thomas TTE (as well as Postman Pat) was one of the few children's shows where they didn't translate the names to something more Norwegian.

I still don't mind catching the occasional episode. It was a good show.

it bothers me when people call him "thomas the train" which seems to be increasingly common. he's a tank engine. a single engine is not a train.

I use to watch the show back when it had George Carlin, the faces on the trains always creeped me out, though its nowhere as awful as "Jay Jay The Jet Plane". Nowadays my nephews watch the show 24/7 and its one of the more tolerable shows to have on the TV. I find the episodes oddly relaxing to watch.

Good point. Besides, 'Thomas the train' is not as catchy, either. 'Thomas the Tank Engine' sounds much better.

When it was aired here decades ago it was under a title that meant: "The locomotive Thomas and his friends".
The episodes aired now are titled "The Thomas train".

I always refer to the show as 'the locomotive Thomas', or just Thomas, same if I say something about Thomas himself. But when I talk about the locomotives in plural, then for some reason I tend to make the mistake of saying 'the trains'. I don't know why, since I know it's not correct use of the word.

Again, it begs the question why. It seems all the "tank" and trains do is complain about each other and get jealous when Percy gets washed or something like that. Maybe it's training kids how to gossip?
