In general I am very indecisive about everything, and take a very long time to settle on a decision. Even if it is something trivial, like what snack to get from a vending machine, I can take several minutes deciding.

The reason I ask is because I am constantly reminded of it inadvertently by my grandma. Every night when we are eating dinner, rather than just allowing me to get my own food in peace, she will ask, "Ok, do you want this, or this, or this?" (of course, she doesn't actually say "this", she is just giving me tons of choices about what to have). Normally I would just get things myself without really thinking about it, but once she makes it a question like that it becomes really difficult for me to just get my food, now I have to weigh my options, even though really nothing has changed. I just feel like I'm forced to respond, and I don't want to have to make a decision about it, I just want to get my dang food!

I don't tell her to leave me alone because that would make me feel bad, she seems like she is trying to be helpful. But I don't even get why she is asking me, because I still end up getting it myself anyway. After a long pause, I will make my decision and say it, which is for some reason very difficult for me, and then she will go, "Ok, it's over there." I KNOW WHERE IT IS GRANDMA, I CAN GET IT WITHOUT YOU ASKING ME IF I WANT IT!

I also don't say anything because then they would want an explanation, and I don't want to look like I am trying to force them to acknowledge that I have Asperger's.

So, we meet again. Yes, I have this problem. I call it my "I don't know" anomaly. Really I do know, but I just either don't know how to answer, or I'm not sure which option to choose and I have to think about it much longer than a normal person. Thus, I just respond "I don't know, we'll see..." until I decide. Sometimes I can decide normally, but only if I'm pretty much already decided. Very silly example: If someone asked you "Would you like chocolate ice cream, or poop flavored ice cream?" I'd easily decide that I wanted chocolate because I already know I don't want to eat poop.

I'm extremely indecisive. It gets in the way, and it causes anxiety.

I don't know. Maybe I am. Maybe I'm not...
(Sorry, I had to).

Is it actual indecisiveness or is it difficulty answering questions? I ask because my husband would appear to be the most indecisive person on the planet when asked many questions in rapid succession, because his answers are "I don't know, I don't know, I don't know". Drove me CRAZY when I first met him. But then I learned more effective ways to get this info. He DOES know. He just has difficulty answering certain types of questions for some reason.

Yes, very much so. That's one reason why I need a structured routine to follow.

That's good, I think it would be cause for concern if you had to think about that one before answering

Probably both to be honest. Though if I had to pick one... difficulty answering questions? No, no, I'm probably more indecisive... which one is correct? I can't decide! What have you done!?

I am only half joking. I seriously deleted what I wrote multiple times trying to decide which one was more accurate, and then I realized what I was doing. I would definitely say indecisiveness is the more root cause of it. Unless you mean difficulty answering questions verbally, in which case I would say that it makes it more difficult, because then I feel rushed, but even without being asked for an answer I notice I am very indecisive. I have spent hours wandering around in stores trying to pick the things I want, but I leave with only like 3 things. That is why I prefer to have certain routines, because having one way of doing something makes it easier to just do something without getting overwhelmed by the choices.

Haven't made up my mind whether I would describe myself as "indecisive", or not!

I am. Always in doubt, even when there's no apparent reason to be. I almost always put a "maybe", "i'm not sure" or "i don't know" in front of all my affirmations.

Most at the time. As uncertainties and confusion will make it much worse.

Because I'm no psychic who that predict what's going to happen after a decision (or a path chosen). I'm not omniscient either. I'm not sure about myself as well. Therefore; "I don't know".

Yes, as much as I hate to admit it, I'm TERRIBLY indecisive!! ! Every time I have to go run errands, I spend DAYS trying to make-up my mind about which bus I should take, which route, which errand to do first, etc., and I just get overwhelmed, and give-up!! I have actually gotten VERY hungry and lost weight, after all the days of trying to make-up my mind!! It's TERRIBLY debilitating, and I HATE it!! ! People think it's procrastination, but it's NOT!! I get absolutely, like, paralyzed!! ! I'm like Ezra said----I like my routines, so I don't have to think about anything!!

Conversely, there are times when I have NO problem deciding----like, for instance, in an emergency situation, I often think of a solution WAY more quickly than those around me----INSTANTLY, even. So, I've often wondered..... Does adrenaline make us think better, or something?? If so, I wonder what I could do to get an adrenaline rush to help me make decisions about my errands, for instance??

I hate choices with a passion esp if the outcome will effect others more then me.

Indecisiveness is ruining my life. Some of the major decisions in my life were affected by my indecisiveness and I'm now facing the consequences of those bad decisions.
