Does anyone know how I can set up a computer to act as a server so i can host my own website?
I have an extra computer here I would like to use.

If you don't know web server at all, you can begin with EasyPHP or WAMP. It's Apache (web srv), PHP, MySQL (database srv). You can use them with Windows.

It is not recommended to use them live on the Internet, it is for educational use or for doing some test.

If you know Linux or if you are ready to learn it you can begin with Ubuntu Server.

I would also recommend looking at your ISP's TOS. Sometimes setting up a server could get you into trouble.
