I rely on my intellect more than my emotions.I am good at social situations because of my intellect. Rather than instinctively reacting, my intellect (and memory) tells me how to react to a social cue.
I am well versed in Dale Carnegie and am the most popular person at work. I was not popular with the girls when I was in junior high. However, I learned from my environment. that bad boys are popular and so became one. In High school I had many girlfriends

I am not saying that every aspie is intellectual or that every aspie is more intellectual than every particular NT. What I am saying is that as a group we are more intellectual (almost Spock like 8) which I almost view as a compliment! ).
Since we are defined as lacking emotional knowledge (we do not instinctively pick up on social cues) we rely on our intellect. Similarly, a blind person develops his other senses.
If we cannot compensate, we are in a helpless state. I am not!
Note that I am not saying that we lack emotions etc, I am saying that we ,on average, do not trust our instincts.
For example my dad always said that I live in my head. I think that is an aspie trait, not exclusively an aspie trait but one that defines our perception of reality.
I think that is why we are over represented in the scientific and creative community and also why we are better at empathy (we do not judge as much. Emotions judge. Intellect seeks similarities.).Intellect transcends perspective.

my fifth grade teacher called me her "little intellectual". not sure about some of your generalizations, but it fits for me.

No. we are simply less social which makes our attention to intellectual things more pronounced than theirs.

Ergo, we don't have a need to add layers of pointless small talk bullcrap into conversations ;)

I would not consider myself 'spock like' at all, and while I am pretty good at analizing information and learning about things I do not feel I see everything though an intellectual mindset, and I do not entirely distrust intuition or emotion feelings....its just hard for me to always read other peoples, but i seem to pick up on vibes rather than compensating via spock like intellectual calculations.

Yes because you are eliminating people with an IQ under 70.

Well we do value intellectual things more than the general population of NTs, so maybe we are more intellectual. But we are not just a group of "intellectuals".

Diagnosed under the DSM5 rules with autism spectrum disorder, under DSM4 psychologist said would have been AS (299.80) but I suspect that I am somewhere between 299.80 and 299.00 (Autism) under DSM4.

Intellect is determined by your neurological wiring, not by a developmental disorder you are currently living with. NT's might as well be as intelligent as the majority of the Aspies. Also there were way to few options on the poll which is an enormous flaw right there, there is grey in between.

Intellectual != intelligent, it's a personality trait. Anyway, I'd say on average yes, but I'm not sure.

Some Aspies are. Well, most people with Autism are clever, apparently. Not me, though. All my thoughts are based around emotions and irrational thoughts.

I am not saying that we are more intelligent than NTs. I am saying that we are more intellectual. We use our intellect and intelligence more often. NTs rely on their instincts and emotions more than us. We trust our instincts less than NTs.

I am not, but I think that in the next ten years or so it will come out that most Autistics do have a higher iq.

I can be more intellectual at times and others I'm more emotionally driven based on my own emotions (which I don't fully understand most of the time)
