No, its not an accomplishment.......I am however proud of my growing vinyl collection or I guess whole music collection I have a lot of CD's and a few cassette tapes to. I don't know I suppose having the autism, causes me to have special interests that I can then be proud of for collecting lol.

Yep! I am actually proud of my accomplishments including learning to adapt and accommodate my characteristics, not my Asperger's Syndrome per se. The fact that I was generally able to do this without even knowing about my AS is remarkable, I believe.

I chose neither proud nor embarrassed, as it just is what it is.

I do feel relieved to have found out what it was, so I guess I'm glad I have finally been diagnosed. But like David, I'm a bit amazed I managed to do some of the things I've managed to do in life all while not knowing I have autism and possibly might have been thought not able to do them.

But the autism itself is just an "is what it is" thing.

I'm not proud or embarrassed, but I do hate autism. (But not myself.)

Actually not understanding at all. As I turned into an older kid, I lost awareness increasingly. In a word: no

The whole pride or shame thing teeters on whether or not, our autism is helping is or hindering us. If you think about it.

I am neither proud or embarrassed about having autism. It is just how I am

This is my choice. I feel it's jsut part of me. I don't have reason to say I'm proud of it. There are a few times when I wish I could cure some of my anxiety related to autism. D:

I didn't choose to be autistic. It isn't something I had to work hard for. The idea of being proud of it doesn't make sense to me right now.

Am I ashamed? Certainly not!

I don't really care either way.

I'm not proud about it, and I'm neither ashamed of it. But what I'm sure is that having Autism sucks, when I compare how NT's deal with everyday life, how social they can be, how easy it seems for them to accomplish things or getting into a relation, then yes having Autism sucks big time.

I feel it is just a thing. As Popeye used to say: "I yam what I yam". I have a type of autism; this is the hand I was dealt and I will play it to the best of my ability. What purpose would it serve to have a pity party for myself and say woe is me, nobody likes me?

This. I'm proud of what I've done. What I am is just what I am. Why would I be proud of being tall? Or being right handed? Same with autism. And I'm not ashamed of anything except for what I've done to hurt others.

Neither proud nor embarrassed.

I'm sometimes embarrassed about my behavior.

I'm proud of what I've accomplished (mostly despite, rather than because, of autism).

I wish I had some of the "savant" characteristics, and some of the synesthesias.

I'm glad I don't have much of the sensory difficulties.

I don't believe autism, per se, should hold back a person from accomplishing much.
