Is it just me or is it almost impossible to post YouTube videos on here?

For whatever reason, HTTPS doesn't work, but I have more luck with plain HTTP links.

I've found that removing the [youtube] thingie at both ends of the address can create a clickable link.

I've still no idea how some people can get the beginning of the actual youtube clip, as a visual image, into the post however.

[youtube]link[/youtube]

If link has "https" change to "http" to get picture. "s"at end means link is encrypted

^ Thanks for your assistance here, I've finally managed to get this one sorted.

For anyone else still having problems, it's worth noting that the 'link' between the [youtube] and [/youtube] should be the one in the main address window of the Youtube page, at top left (don't forget to edit out 's' from https, as ASPartOfMe says). This will produce a direct link.

I've previously posted Youtubes by using the address which appears when you click the 'Share' message on Youtube, but this only gives a clickable text link. Even with this, it seems the WP process has problems, which can be solved by editing out the [youtube] and [/youtube] framing devices (or whatever they're called, BBCode?).

Yeah, I think you and jenisautistic were attempting to put [youtube] tags around [url] tags, which don't play nice together. At least judging by what you wrote and jenisautistic's other thread with an attempted youtube post.

When putting the youtube video URL in the usual bbcode tags just delete the "s" at the end of https.

Simple.
