John Cage was a modern, avant-garde composer.

I have to tell you something that happened. It wasn't a dream but I'll put it here anyway.

A few weeks ago I did my online grocery order and got the stuff. When I put it all away I realized that there was a certain kind of salad dressing I was craving. I had some on hand but it was expired so I chucked it. I wanted to order more of it but didn't want to pay the delivery fee for just one thing, so I didn't bother.

The next time I got online groceries I forgot all about it. I hadn't put it in my online shopping cart or even looked at it on the website. I ordered a bunch of other stuff, which was mostly pet food.

When the stuff arrived I was shocked to find they sent me the salad dressing. 8O It was in my order.

I looked at the receipt and it wasn't listed. I didn't pay for it.

Sometimes they send freebies of products that you don't ask for, but it's always something new they're trying to promote. They also put a big red sticker on those things, saying "Compliments of the store".

This salad dressing didn't have the sticker.

It's not a new product.

I'm still baffled. I hadn't even ordered produce to send them into that aisle when getting my order.

What are the odds?

Incidentally, I don't want to open it.
I feel like it's magic and I should just stare at it instead.

So much for my craving.

Maybe it was you and not Ken who sent a psychic wave to someone working at the supermarket/warehouse, picking orders, who then went off course from his or her instructed items to pick and randomly picked up the item that you wanted, but which you didn't order. 8O

I wasn't even thinking about it so I didn't send a psychic vibe to the dasher.
I don't really believe it was Ken either, or anything supernatural.

It was just a very random coincidence.
The timing was uncanny though.
I love when stuff like that happens.

Maybe you sent psychic waves unconsciously.

I wasn't being entirely serious. I am sure it was just a coincidence. :)

John Cage?

I've heard that name in association with the Beatles but I can't remember the context.

I think Paul was into him when he was exploring the art world around 65-66.

??

Yes. Paul and John were influenced by John Cage. Yoko Ono was his friend. He's said to have inspired John's Revolution 9 and the orchestral bits of A Day In The Life, and Paul's thing called Carnival Of Light, which AFAIK still hasn't been released.

I was back at work. Somebody from outside my usual laboratory had given me a lot of work to do, which I felt fairly confident about, and had already begun to make good progress. On returning to my usual laboratory, I saw that they'd brought and left a large set of biological samples for me to process. I started to put some of them into the refrigerator for storage, but they hadn't been arranged and labelled very systematically, and I started to get them muddled up. Our biochemist noticed and said that the work was far too specialised for me to attempt without a lot of training, and that he'd talk to them about it. It was becoming apparent that the people who had given me the work had done so in order to get me constructively dismissed.

I went into a large laboratory in the building where the people who had given me the work "lived," and hung about trying to talk to a couple of the female staff who knew me, hoping to discuss my problem and get them on my side, but I couldn't get much attention from them and I began to feel it was unlikely I'd be able to raise the matter. I moved to the other side of the laboratory where I talked with a male member of staff who was known to be politically more against the people who had given me the work. But we just fell into the habit of chatting about random subjects. There was an unspoken arrangement that we met regularly to do this.

Then I was in the corridor talking with a group of 3 or 4 colleagues. I revealed to them that I'd been voluntarily working without pay for a year, and would use that to fight the management because it meant that I had no fear of losing money if I were dismissed, and that they had little practical reason to dismiss me because they wouldn't save any money by doing so, and that even if I hadn't been doing much work, they'd been getting it for nothing.

That's a recurring dream that has taken many different forms, but always ends with realising that I've been working without pay for a year which potentially liberates me from the usual means by which employers emaciate and control their employees. In real life I never worked in a laboratory without pay, but I did that once in a worker co-operative that grew organic herbs.

I had a dream where I was back in high school standing outside the school waiting for the school bus to take me home. I was talking to some classmates when a giant monarch butterfly came flying towards me and landed on my finger including a few smaller butterflies. I began showing off to my classmates how I could control these butterflies and they looked at me and said "You're weird".

Then I got on the school bus with this oversized butterfly still on my hand and i was staring out the window in my seat waiting to get home, but then I got tired of waiting and I escaped out the school bus window and starting flying in the air to make my way home.

I was in a van (vehicle) that was moving/on the road, sitting on a back seat, and in front of me and to the left was someone sitting on one of those singular seats that you get in a van. He had headphones on and was verbalising/repeating what he was hearing in his headphones and I asked him to be quiet and to stop the commentary as it was annoying me.

He ignored me, took his headphones off and switched places with the driver.

He then announced that he was going to look for a rare peacock (???!)

He drove for a while and came to a military base that read "restricted area" and he drove through the gate anyhow, ignoring the sign.

He was chattering about finding his peacock, and I said that this was a military base and hoped that we wouldn't be shot on sight.

A military vehicle then came into sight, the driver spun the car round and as he drove away, I heard a loud "bang", a gunshot from the vehicle behind us.

My head slumped forward, and my first thoughts were "am I slumped forward due to some pressure/force from the back of the vehicle"?

But then I realised - I had been shot in the back of the head. A warm, oozing fluid, which I knew instinctively was blood, began to trickle down the back of my neck.

I contemplated death and then the dream ended.

I had a dream last night and i actually remember a tiny bit of it which is really weird for me. Usually i conk out and then wake up and anything that happens in between doesn't make it back to reality with me.

It wasn't interesting or anything. All i remember is walking back to my car across a field with my daughter and one of her friends and i was trying to engage the friend in some stupid dad banter and she was pointedly ignoring me.

An angel kissed me. Last time this happened I found out that my stepdad had passed.

A long time ago, after I'd moved out on my first wife, she told me that one of our two cats had gone missing. She also told me that she thought he'd been looking for me and that was why he'd got lost. Rather stupidly, I kind of believed that at the time. AFAIK he was never found. Not long after, I dreamed that I found a beautiful, sunny little garden where the cats were playing happily. It was like a cat heaven. I asked them if they could ever forgive me for leaving them. They assured me that they did and that they were perfectly content. When I woke up I felt much better. I guess in the dream I'd been trying to heal my guilt feelings about leaving my wife and our cats, and I suppose it kind of worked, though I don't think I'll ever completely forgive myself, even though I should.

yikes thats difficult, but coming from s eoman or significant other , after I had moved out ...
Due to my own life circumstances , might be subject to distrusting of what that other person might say ? But am glad , the Cat came back ,in one manner or another to reassure you .

I can see why she tried that guilt trip on me. I can also see how that kind of behaviour in her character may have been part of the reason why I'd left her in the first place. I still don't know exactly why I left, though there are various plausible theories.

A different angle on the dream is that cats are sometimes said to be child substitutes, so maybe it was to do with the children we never had? I can have many interpretations of a dream, and still not know which is right. But at least the interpretations can lead to insights and observations about myself, which might be useful, but I don't know for sure that they are. Anyway, they're interesting, for some reason.
