I woke up just twenty minutes ago and opened up my computer. I looked the long thread about self-diagnosis and saw an odd quote. Someone had quoted me VisInsita. But the quote consisted of something I have not said. I immediately logged in to ask why I was quoted to have said something I did not say and to see why could this be. But at the minute I logged in, the whole thread vanished.

I still found the quote via Google and saved it. It was according to Google written 8 hours ago, at a time I was asleep. Could the moderators put the thread back so I can see what is going on or send my messages to me? I have been bullied seriously lately and it has involved alot.

I hope this is not the case and someone messed up the quoting. But I want to make sure. What should I do? I was bullied in a similar manner in Facebook.

Moved from General Autism Discussion.

Can you tell me what was the title of the thread that disappeared?

That was my mistake, sorry - it was deleted by accident, so starting from now we won't have the ability to delete posts anyway.

But the deleting wasn't the main problem, but the thing that someone wrote something in my name and it stood there for the whole night (day in there maybe) and several pages of posts have accumulated after that and ups, then someone accidentally just deletes the thread as I look into the matter. Are you really saying that I have no way of seeing my posts? There must be a way.

I will not suggest this forum to anyone. The moderation is poor and probably allows bullying to happen. I will follow those who jumped off.

It is quite possible that they were quoting another member but flubbed the tags. I've seen that happen before on other forums.

What has happened to you has nothing to do with moderating.

If you feel your account has been compromised you should immediately change your password while logged in and then log out and log in again.

That way the person who hacked your account will no longer have the ability to access your account.

It is probable that the only way you would realize your account was hacked was if there were posts made with your account that you didn't make. Seeing a quote from your account is immaterial.

For example, here I'm quoting Santa Claus:

Santa Claus wrote:
Ho Ho Ho

I didn't have to hack Santa's account to do that.

This is very likely. There might have been multiple responses on the page, or it could have been a poster error.

I agree, the moderators have no hand in this event. They can not psychically know who is really posting, they have absolutely no way to tell who is posting from an account or if an account has been hacked.

It is up to us members to notify them right away if we suspect out accounts have been compromised.

OK. I saw someone quoting me, before the thread vanished. There was a box VisInsita said and then something I did not say. So why would my name come up there, unless they quoted someone, wrote the quoted person's name to the code themselves and forgot who it actually was in doing so? That is the only reason I could make without ill intentions.

I personally feel that moderation here isn't very consistent and thus good, but it is not personal. People lock threads based on personal likes and dislikes and whole threads vanish without a warning - just accidentally, as is said to be this case.

I thank LoverforLoki for the advice. I will change my password. But I don't know if I will continue to post. This place feels unsafe.

it was a glitch in the system, I was closing the reports. I definitely didn't delete the thread in question on purpose.

I haven't seen people closing threads based on their personal bias, but volunteers spending hours here trying to help and still get these kind of accusations thrown at them.

Sorry if I came across as accusing, but like I stated I am not personally accusing you or moderation, but sometimes I just don't get the basis for why some threads get locked and some not. I guess it is personal values and taste that matter. Something I might find offending, might not be that to you and vice versa. To say that there is nothing wrong ever in the other party, isn't right either. For example maybe you now correct the glitch in the system, for it came up now, and in the future threads don't vanish accidentally, especially when someone then is left in uncertainty and can never know what happened, and thus feels very unsafe.

Maybe we could also thank not just from the compliments, but also of the worries posters bring up considering moderation and safety here. That enhances both and is for our good. Even if people who in their lives are severely bullied, might overreact at times.
