I'd have thought a better title would have been "It gets difficult being around people" because that's what I find.

It's much more comfortable and easier on your own. Do whatever you want whenever you want.

Yah it does. I don't have a lot of friends but do have a few very close people in my life - which is good for me.

This is right for me, too.

Too many people is draining and makes me incompetent. But true loneliness makes me deeply depressed. I have a basic need for some contact and other minds to interact with.

My wife and kids plus one or two friends is good. I find it hard to maintain friendships though. I think I would be lost without my family.

I'm constantly with people. I work about 50 hours a week in a very busy call centre and I come home to my daughter.

However, I am a very lonely person and when I actually stop to think about it, it is quite sad.

I'm alone in my Aspergers.

I did write a longer post, but it sounded like a bit of a moan.

Sorry to hear that. :(

I find the exchange of views and ideas here on WP is very enriching and makes me feel connected in a very positive way. I hope it helps you too.

Yes it does help me, thank you.

The people of WP are the only people (apart from my daughter and my doctor) who know that I have Aspergers.

I really don't take this place for granted. :D

I have had gf's that suck, you must be going to the wrong places.

What I miss is someone just to talk to on occasion about various matters. I have plenty of family in the area, but they aren't usually interested in such matters.

I feel like I'm in a kind of vacuum. About all I can talk to people about are minor issues of little real importance.

It does for me. I've been on my own since September and I'm sinking. My only family is my Mom. She lives a five minute walk away so that's good. But it seems I have no friends. I've lost three friends over the past couple of months. Mostly due to my anti-social behaviour. Which I seem less able or motivated to modify. I am finding I value contact with service employees - it is my main source of interaction some days. (Other than WrongPlanet.) I'm lucky to have my Mom, for as long as I do.
My dog and two cats keep me company mostly and I fear I will soon be the crazy old lady living in the basement apartment.

most of the time I don't really recognise or think I am lonely, then I have episodes of lonliness, they never last long though.

I sometimes wonder whether I just feel I should be lonely because most people like seeing friends and want to go out. its hard to tell

I am lonely & I live with my sister & her son. I have very big problems with her, she don't believe me on things & she think she knows everything about Asperger, she have to be right & I'm wrong. She sure know how to make me feel so bad about myself & make me feel very lonely & very scare in life. I get very scare cuz my mom not here anymore & my sister don't believe me. ALOT of times I feel all alone & that the worse feeling.

I don't even have AS. But a lot of times I think that I might as well have.

It confuses me, because I'm very good with non-verbal behaviour and emotions (too good almost. I seem to outperform most other people in this area).
Also I've never really had issues with routines or particularly stereotyped interests (although drama always gives me a buzz that I don't get elsewhere).

And yet there seems to be something about me that other people have always found to be 'off'. I never really figured out what that was. I definitely have problems with ADHD, but even those types of people can have very active social lives.

This is why I am on a lot of different forums... I don't really connect much to others on the forums, but it's someone to talk to.
