I am having no luck in finding a Kempston or Zipstick joystick for my BBC Model B.

If anybody has either one of these ( that they want to sell ) please let me know. Preferably a working example.

They need to be BBC compatible versions, however.

Thanks, Chris.

I'm a bit surprised the Beeb doesn't just take an Atari 9-pin connector joystick like most other European home computers of the time. Maybe try Amibay? On VOGONS, another forum that I frequent, a lot of the European members there use Amibay to buy and sell retro computer parts. I haven't tried them out though, since I'm based in Canada. http://www.amibay.com/

As for buying and selling on the VOGONS board itself, don't. The admin there doesn't like it because of liability reasons, in case a trade goes sour.

It's a bit of a pain that I can't just plug a nine pin into the beeb, but in their wisdom, Acorn went another way.

So it leaves me searching high & low for a simple microswitched joystick.

I missed out on one on Ebay because I forgot to click to confirm the bid, in the dying seconds!! ! Aarrgh!! !

I'll follow your link & see if that proves fruitful.

Thanks.

P.S. I would highly recommend a Turbo MMC interface to anyone with a BBC Micro, they're brilliant.

You could try Atari Age. Like Wrong Planet, it's a forum of many forums only it's completely dedicated to retro gaming 8) .

When I was growing up, my school had a BBC Micro. The monitor, disk drive and printer made it seem really impressive and state-of-the-art in comparison to the C64/Spectrum but in reality the BBC only has 32k RAM which is about the same as a fully-expanded VIC-20.

All of those systems had their pros & cons, I suppose. I like 'em all.

Thanks for the info.

I'll go and check it out.
