Today I just happened to notice a political/news magazine that ALWAYS has something depressing on its front cover screaming out that teenager's brains are shrinking.
So there you have it, ladies and gentleman, the generation that will supposedly take care of us when we're old and weak will probably be dragging their knuckles along the ground by then. Although I think I once heard that Neanderthals had bigger brains than modern humans...

Neanderthal did have larger brains than we did. Also, our species brain size has been decreasing for the past 5000 years. Remember brain size is not indicative of intelligence or capability unless the difference in size and morphology are great. It is thought our brain size has reduced because of two factors: 1) We are using significantly less hand-eye coordination and spatial regions and more of our cognitive and memory regions and, 2) Our food supply has greatly increased and stabilized which means we no longer require large brain mass to acquire food (it has to do with #1) so it is more energy efficient to downsize.
