I think it's pretty fun to share horror stories, and hear or read ones other people know :D Feel free to post any scary stories you've heard, or come up with, in this thread :) I'll start with a horror story I've heard:

My Daughter Learned to Count
My daughter woke me up at around 11:50 last night. My wife and I had picked her up from her friend Susan's birthday party, brought her home, and put her to bed. My wife went into the bedroom to read while I fell asleep watching TV.

"Daddy," she whispered, tugging my shirt sleeve, "guess how old I'm going to be next month."

"I don't know, darling", I said while I slipped on my glasses. "How old?" She smiled and held up four fingers.

It's 7:30 now. My wife and I have been up with her for nearly eight hours. She still won't tell us where she got them.

Great thread idea! I love horror stories! Two thumbs up. Just please don't ask me where I got them! :P

Taylor, would it be okay to post videos in this thread? There are so many good creepypasta and other creepy videos.

Here's a creepypasta I like (not written by me) :

Coffins

Coffins used to be built with holes in them, attached to six feet of copper tubing and a bell. The tubing would allow air for victims buried under the mistaken impression they were dead. Harold, the Oakdale gravedigger, upon hearing a bell, went to go see if it was children pretending to be spirits. Sometimes it was also the wind. This time it wasn’t either. A voice from below begged, pleaded to be unburied.
“You Sarah O’Bannon?”
“Yes!” the voice assured.
“You were born on September 17, 1827?”
“Yes!”
“The gravestone here says you died on February 19?”
“No I’m alive, it was a mistake! Dig me up, set me free!”
“Sorry about this, ma’am,” Harold said, stepping on the bell to silence it and plugging up the copper tube with dirt. “But this is August. Whatever you is down there, you ain’t alive no more, and you ain’t comin’ up.”

^ Good one, Skilpadde!

Taylor, I'm sorry but I don't really understand that story.

~~~
A story I heard from someone who experienced it: She woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't fall back asleep. When she got up and went to the kitchen to drink something, she found one of the forks badly bent and left on the kitchen table. All the doors and windows were locked and nobody could have come in her flat. There was nothing else that looked strange in the kitchen. Only that fork.
(I actually believe that she was drunk or on drugs, did it herself and later couldn't remember it, although I didn't say that to her.)
Thanks!
The point in Taylor's story is that the little girl tells her father how old she will be and holds up four fingers. Her parents spend the next eight hours trying to get her to tell them where she got those fingers, meaning the fingers she held up weren’t her own.
A new story, also a creepypasta:
Awkward Moments
I always regret awkward social interactions, and I can't help but obsess, for days, over what I should have done. This last one could have been particularly bad, had I not chosen to avert disaster at the last moment.
I was going for my daily run through the neighborhood when I noticed three kids playing mostly unattended - a babysitter stood thirty feet ahead of me talking on her phone, her attention elsewhere. One boy seemed to be about eight. A slightly younger girl threw a ball to him, caught it, then threw it to a much younger boy.
He failed to catch the ball, and it bounced past him, somehow managing to fall into the slats of an old air conditioning unit out back of the nearest house. The unit was quiet, and the fan was offline, but it was a hot day out, and I slowed my run out of concern.
The younger boy ran up to the unit, climbed on top, and reached his arm down inside.
"Hey!" I shouted at the boy. "That's dangerous! That fan could turn on at any time!"
Yeah, that's what I should have done, in retrospect. The kids would have screamed and run, thinking I was a dangerous stranger, but the boy would have pulled his arm out from the machine.
"Um, are you supposed to be watching those kids?" I asked the babysitter as I passed her.
Yeah, that's what I should have done. She would have rolled her eyes and told me to mind my own business, but she would have made him get down from there.
I stopped in place and lowered my sunglasses, looking in the boy's direction. The babysitter would have noticed, and only momentarily thought I was some sort of creep staring at the kids, but then she would have quickly seen the danger herself and ran over to him.
Yeah, that's what I should have done.
In the end, I chose to say nothing. I don't ever talk to people I don't know. I can't risk the embarrassment; I can't risk the endless replays I run in my head, worrying about what I should have done, over and over and over...
As their myriad horrified screams grew louder than the suddenly surging fan - as little red dots from the cloud of blood mist dotted my sunglasses - I sighed with relief. That could have been so awkward…
Here's a horror story I heard from a friend :)
Humans Can Lick, Too
A girl's parents were leaving to watch a movie, so they left their child home alone, protected by her dog. Her parents told her to lock all of the doors and windows. The girl locked almost all of the windows and doors. But, there was one window in the basement that wouldn't close completely. Just to make sure nobody got in, she locked the basement door. She went upstairs to have her dinner and went to bed shortly after that. She snuggled with the dog at about 10pm and went to sleep.
At about 10:20, she thought she heard a door creak open. She thought it was just her imagination. But she was still a little nervous, so she put her hand under her bed and the dog licked it. She felt reassured and went back to sleep.
At about 10:40, she heard something dripping in her bathroom. She got a little nervous, but assumed that she'd left the water running. She put her hand under her bed and it was licked. She felt reassured and went back to sleep. The dripping noise woke her up again at about 11:10. This time she was a little annoyed, but she put her hand under the bed and it was licked. So she calmed down and went back to sleep.
At 2:20 she decided she'd had enough. She went into the bathroom to turn off the water when she noticed where the dripping noise had really been coming from. She found her dog, dead, hanging in the shower and dripping with blood. Written, in blood, on the mirror was "humans can lick, too"
Great! :)
This is my favorite creepypasta
The other Internet
Mark
My name is Mark, and this happened around 1985 when I was 11 years old.
My family (Mom, Dad, my sister and I) had recently moved from a beautiful big farmhouse outside of town into a flat in the city. For a kid who loved playing outdoors with our dogs, wading in the river, or feeding the ducks and chickens, it was a big adjustment. The block of flats was old and only 6 floors - we were on the top floor. Like many old buildings, the flat itself was big with high ceilings and long passages. My room was furthest from my parents room and nearest the bathroom at the end of hall.
One evening while my parents were watching TV in the lounge I went to the bathroom to use the toilet. When I was done I flushed the toilet and through the sound of rushing water I heard a very distinctive sound, like a whisper, as though somebody was standing next right next to me, and it said: "Maaaark"
I remember the moment vividly! I ran from the bathroom into the lounge, trembling with fear. I told my parents what I heard. My Dad thought it was funny - he laughed and said it was just the pipes in this old block of flats. My mom was a little more sympathetic, but also played it down.
Weeks passed again without incident, until one evening about the same time I was in the bath. My parents were once again in the lounge on the far side of the flat. While bathing I heard it again. Clear as day, right next to my ear, this bone-chilling deathly whisper calling my name: "Maaaaark".
This time though I was more prepared, my Dad told me it was just the pipes and my logical brain kicked in trying to work it out... still somewhat scared I listened more intently, putting my ear to the bath's overflow grate and waited... Nothing. And then just as I was about to relax and put it down to the pipes it called again, this time with more desperation in it's voice, "MAAAARK".
And then I did something that horrifies me to this day... I answered it. "Yes? What do you want?"
Even though the bath was hot my body was covered in goosebumps as I sat in terrified silence waiting for God knows what.
And then it came - it was the most horrifying, yet somehow tragic cry I have ever heard. Like the guttural, hollow wail of despair a mother might make upon discovering her dead child. "Aaauuuuuurrrgghhh"
Terrified, I leapt naked from the bath and bolted to the lounge where I ran to my mother. Shaking and sobbing I could barely speak, but managed to articulate, "I... heard it... again!"
My father, being the man of logic he was, frog marched me back into the bathroom to prove nothing was there, and to my relief there wasn't anything. In retrospect I think that did more damage to me than anything else!
In the weeks that followed I refused to bath without one of my parents present. I would only use the toilet with the door open, or would rather hold off and keep my ablutions for school or when visiting friends.
Anyway, some months passed we moved again, this time into a newly built house. Over time my fear of using bathrooms waned and the incidents which so terrified me became a distant memory.
About 15 years passed, and one evening while having dinner with my Mom (my Dad had passed away a few years prior) I asked her if she remembered those events in the flat. She remembered them well.
Her face got serious, "Do you know why we moved from there?" "No", I replied, now very curious. She continued, "I began to hear it too, at night it would call your name like something was wandering the flat looking for you."
Here's a short creepypasta that I quite like,
The Bad Dream
“Daddy, I had a bad dream.” You blink your eyes and pull up on your elbows. Your clock glows red in the darkness—it’s 3:23.
“Do you want to climb into bed and tell me about it?”
“No, Daddy.”
The oddness of the situation wakes you up more fully. You can barely make out your daughter’s pale form in the darkness of your room.
“Why not sweetie?”
“Because in my dream, when I told you about the dream, the thing wearing Mommy’s skin sat up.” For a moment, you feel paralyzed; you can’t take your eyes off of your daughter. The covers behind you begin to shift.
