Is it just me or is this site like really dead lately?

So I am not sure if maybe the view posts since last visit option is broken.....or screwed up in some way it doesn't really update recent threads or if its really dead here. But seems like for the past few weeks I have the same posts on there that haven't been responded to....if I am lucky within the however many posts it will show, there's maybe like two new posts...and in some cases if I am very lucky a new thread.

But seems like theres not really any new threads being created, very old threads somehow keep getting bumped up like they where recently posted so I've only deleted maybe 15 or more posts I've made upon realizing it was a case of thread necromancy. And there's some trolls here and there as well as the occasional...'I am leaving' post, actually those are probably the most common posts. IDK does this site have a future or is everyone leaving and its becoming a dead zone....Are there any other websites comparable to this, like autism based but with a lot of sections for different topics?

Or maybe I should just not use the view last posts option and see if there are new threads/posts that I'm maybe missing that aren't showing up there....though last time I checked around just different forum sections and didn't see any tagged as new, but maybe it was just a slow day. I don't know does it seem dead to anyone else?

it certainly is, on my end at least...although it's been this way before, very few posts over a span of hours, not much new overnight..and then activity goes up again after a while. i'm guessing it's a cycle, although i've only been here since march and can't really comment on any 'bigger picture'/how it was beforehand.

right now, it's a graveyard. no doubt about that. i would have guessed that weekends are more active then weekdays, since people have more time off, but we'll see whether it wakes up again over the next few days.....

i doubt it's broken, but i've noticed there can be a bit of a delay on 'egosearch'.

It doesn't help that the feature which used to publicize new threads on the home page, has now been replaced with the much less useful "Active Discussions", which most commonly relates to long-established games threads.

I wouldn't say the site is "really dead" at the moment. The General Autism forum rarely goes more than a few minutes without a new post, I've noticed. And Off The Wall is often very busy, though that section of the site is a minority interest, it's safe to say!

The Aspies Central site has a fair bit in common with WP, as far as content and layout go, but it really is pretty inactive compared to this one.

The Kiwi Farm, or whatever it calls itself, and Intensity Squared seem to be AS sites of a sort, but most of the posts there seem to be either quite nasty, or just not very intelligent or interesting. I definitely wouldn't recommend either!

I've noticed a gradual decline in posts in the last twelve months. Aspiescentral is quiet too.
I think that during the process of change WP has lost the sense of community it had a year ago.
When I joined, there were many knowledgeable long term members posting regularly, but now many of them have left and I can't help but believe that they were the metaphorical glue keeping the site functioning as a community; that was something unique and attractive, it made WP a viable choice, instead of the soulless modern approach of other social media. WP has to compete with facebook groups etc, in order to do that it must offer something different, and of more interpersonal substance than a glaring facelift.

Yeah...some of the "regulars" left.

Maybe it's because they need a "vacation?"

I think WrongPlanet goes through cycles. We're in a relatively "light" cycle because (I hate to say it), the relative dearth of "controversial" topics.

When something stokes people's emotions, those people come out of the woodwork.

People just have strong feelings on certain things, and want to express them.

I wonder why. "General Autism Discussion" has always been the most active sub forum though.

I wonder how many active members we have at the moment?

We're getting a lot of traffic to the site. I believe once all the issues with our upgrade have been sorted out, we'll get even more.

I want to get more people submitting articles for the front page.

I end up logging in and looking, but half of the stuff I wanted to post I deleted because I'm simply to overwhelmed to let other people slander my information, my personal information, whom I wish to share with you but I feel as much as it's inviting I can only think of this paranoid sensation that I will get myself into trouble for leaving myself open to attack or ridicule. Anything I write now could potentially be used against me. And it really is harder to detect who you are genuinely speaking to online.

I thought this was meant to be a support website not a fricken circus.

So it begs me to question what we are all doing here, and if I really cant just be me, but there are too many conflicts of interest and I can never truly tell who is being genuine or not and I just don't know what the rules are.

I think it's the trolls that ruin it for the genuin people.

The people who generally want to give you a hard time when you feel vulnerable, I feel like stamping on them.

It's good to laugh, I like a good joke. But not at other people's expense.

I'm not trying to give this website a bad name or the genuine people in it, and I wouldn't want to ruin anybody else's experience, and I don't know weather this is a question to your consern because this is only my experience.

What I'm trying to say is this internet is like another world and it's rules that I have not figured out yet. It seems like it can be a terrifying place as much as a place for hope. I would say for anybody that uses the internet do not let it destroy your soul. And be very careful because there are nasty pieces of work lurking.

I just wanted to make people aware because I wasn't, until olive oil left and I am guessing she was a good member here. Also I have seen the kiwi crap, it makes me realise how vulnerable people can be online.

Peace.

Hi Grommit. I just want to let you know that I liked some of your posts here, especially in the threads we both participated in the PPR discussion. I don't know what happened to you that made you feel that way but I'm sorry to hear that.

P.S. Regarding the Kiwi stuff, I've made a suggestion about that here:

http://wrongplanet.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=276829

No one has responded to it yet though.

I have been posting new threads but it will get about 10 views after 2 days and no one replies to it. Not sure but I think the forum is either dead or filled with cliques that are selective about who comes in.

I really think the new post thing needs to be fixed, I cant find these new threads that haven't been responded to because it's filled up with all these game and counting spam threads. There should be a way where they don't show up.

It has been dead and getting slowly deader since the update in November. Several features were removed and there is new boring white color instead of the green and blue of the old one. As many mentioned the Active Discussions thing needs to be fixed.
Threads from Games, Random, PPR, or the Haven shouldn't be what newcomers are introduced with. It gives a bad impression of the site. 8O

There isn't anything wrong with actual discussions, its just the straight spam threads. I'm not going to in and check number they counted up to in the count to a million thread for example. It's just not anything anybody cares about. Take out games and random and you'd fix most of the problems.

I can speak on the behalf of Aspies Central as far as I'm concerned. Most recently ever since the site has been upgraded and have merged with Aspergic forums, the traffic has literally tripled, making it the other popular forum in the AS community. As for WP, it will take a while for traffic or people to get used to.
