I have an obsession with writing, and my Mother keeps trying to take it away. What would happen if you couldn't do your obsession?

Can't speak for others but I get extremely frustrated and restless, which usually leads to depression. Is there a reason why your mother is stopping you from writing? Seems quite a harmless obsession to me.
