The Interview (the 2014 film)

You all know about the 2014 Seth Rogen and James Franco action/comedy The Interview, which is about a celebrity interviewer set out by the CIA to kill notorious North Korean dictactor Kim Jong-Un.

You also all know about the controversy that ensued about the film itself, and how the release got delayed, and then later screened in limited theatres and streamed online as well.

But, has anyone seen it? I have. And let me say, as a guy of Korean extraction, without spoiling anything, have I seen a more satisfying ending to a film. (Oops. I kinda spoiled it. Sorry.) I watched it in a small theatre in a town near me (since my local theatre didn't show it), and there was a sizable crowd at the showing I went to. The reason I saw it, well, let's just say I did in the name of free speech and democracy.

I end this post with a quote from Hustler publisher Larry Flynt: "You know, everybody believes in free speech until you start questioning them about it."

I saw it, and I thought it was pretty funny. I will say this about the actor playing North Korean dictator Kim: definitely a case where they got an actor who looks better than the real life article.

I saw it. I thought a few jokes were not needed, but I too, watched it for free speech.
