Hello - I want this to be short so people will read it, but I predict it will be too long. Just skip around. I'm pretty sure I have Asperger's and I want to ask my doctor. My son is diagnosed PDD-NOS, ADHD and Sensory Integration Dysfunction, and I'm diagnosed ADHD and SID, as well as having social anxiety and generalized anxiety disorder, plus depression...blah blah blah...so many hats. Anyway, I recognize myself in a lot of the Asperger "symptoms". Don't know how reliable the online tests are but the results point to "yes, add this one to your list of things wrong with you". Not that I think it's a bad thing now that I am an adult, but as a child...not a good thing. I was socially awkward - I always had only 1 friend at a time. I was popular with boys but not girls, I never got along with girls (not with most women, now, either - I don't like the girly stuff and I hate the mall - I want to have girlfriends but women just don't seem to like me). Ugh this is supposed to be short. Ok super short now... Childhood: Unsure how to act, eye contact very hard, still is difficult - I used to watch mouths. I would adopt other’s behaviors/likes and dislikes/opinions in order to fit in. Stoic expression and did not cry much as a baby. Hate tags, turtlenecks, have to wear cotton. I'm a picky eater... I was terrible at sports – would have anxiety attacks about P.E. Daydreamer. Never learned to swim properly – hated not feeling the bottom in the deep end, did not like my face under water and was afraid to dive. Always felt different, weird. Lots of little phobias. I'm obsessed with researching things on the internet. I'm an artist, I love music, I collect fossils. I love computers and video games, puzzles, quizzes and learning new things. I hate parties and crowds. I don't connect with most people. Whew...I'm tired. I look forward to getting to know some of you and maybe figure out what's going on with me. Thanks for reading. Sorry so long

HA!! You're like me. I still have nightmares TO THIS DAY that my PhD will not be conferred because my highschool finds out I skipped to much P.E. and should have never graduated. These nightmares used to be about my BS getting held up, then it was my MS, now it's PhD. And I've graduated Summa Cum Laude each time - P.E. cutting notwithstanding

I can relate to a lot of what you said, esp the PE thing. I was TERRIFIED of PE class.

That will get you full membership around here. Not sure what we are members of. Not sure of all the capital letter stuff, for a long time I thought it was Leet. SID, Serious Intrest in Dogs.

Wow that was nice...I didn't expect so many replies just for an introduction. You guys are funny, too...excellent - (I think I'll go read all of Inventor's posts now to cheer me up).

I made a pretty bad intro faux pas, though - just insert the following sentence at the very beginning of my post:

Hi, my name is Tracy, I'm 38 and I live in Georgia. I am an artist, and I'm married to an NT (which really should be NA = Not Asperger's, because I doubt he's Typical-anything).

I mentioned I have a son with PDD-NOS. My other child is only 3, but she does not appear to have any sign of Autism Spectrum-anything, so far. I'm watching carefully, tho. 8O

Thanks!

No faux pas at all...

We rarely use our 'real' names, though some like to. We could see you're in Georgia USA from your Avatar info, and your nickname is lostartist ! !

Really now, did you think we'd mistake you for a carpenter in Ukraine??

Haha... good point! You have earned that newbie terrorizer title. :P I was, as always, not sure if I did something right the first time and second-guessed myself. I'd already forgotten that I could maybe be myself around here, though...and now here I am explaining myself...I've taken on some bad habits, haven't I? The name WrongPlanet is just the most perfect name. Is there a contest here for the most tangents in a post? I'd like to submit most, if not all, of my future posts for consideration. Thank you!
