Hello! Firstly, well done on being able to cut off that abusive friendship/relationship, that's the first step in the right direction :) Abusive friendships and relationships are horrible, so it's great that you've done what you've done.

Secondly, being an Aspie myself I'm not that good with social situations so I'm not entirely sure, but I have some ideas: maybe you could meet new friends at college, or church, or something like that. As for distraction, you could aim to spend time with your family, or possibly one of your favourite hobbies could help. Good luck :D

I agree with catlover (and not just because my best friend as an adolescent was a spoiled gray Persian).

I'm glad you got out of that abusive relationship. Cut this person from your life--totally.

Just because you're an Aspie doesn't mean you can't find friends. There are many people (albeit somewhat in the "sidelines") who share such typically Aspie interests as computers, mathematics, anime, manga, philosophy, etc.

Like catlover said, join clubs which reflect your interests.

This "era" you speak of is better off being sloughed off into Oblivion.

It's a good thing you got rid of that relationship theirs no place for these people who treat people badly there better off not in your life.

You need to join forums or local groups to do with your interests. If you love reading seeing if theirs a local group or even if there inst join an online one. If you always fancied snowboarding for example and dint feel you had the friends to go with theirs always groups for beginners and chances to make new friends.

You have one of your interest as Harry Potter, thats great! Loads of cool people you can meet to do with that or chat with online. I loved the books and films - you should consider going to the harry potter studio tour one day with you being in the UK as well , if you haven't already been they have the great hall there a HUGE model of Hogwarts and everything. I loved it there

As for meeting new people in person i dont really have much help for you most of my friends are those i made in school, theirs not many i made outside of school but theirs people out there who will be great friends for you in the future, you just need to get them found

You'll love it. You only have so long you can stay in the great hall before they move you along to get the next group in but the rest of the tour, diagon alley etc etc you can take as long as you want.

And if you go at Christmas they set the hall up as it was in the Yule Ball and they do something similar for haloween

Just dont do what i did and go and buy The Elder Wand and a chocolate frog then go to pay by card and be told they dont accept Maestro! Had to run to the only cash machine in the place and run back haha

Looks like you're on a better path. It's not as if you've excised all love from your existence, you just need to focus on finding some in improbable places.

Don't let the incident of the breakup and the memories of the pain jade you. Keep being your best self and think positive.
