The first sequel to Super Mario Bros. was made by Hudson Soft and called "Super Mario Bros. Special". It was only released for a computer system called the NEC PC-8801, and rather than the smooth side-scrolling of the original, this game used a flick screen.

Warcraft 2 had this funny sound when you clicked on a Orc Grunt about a hundred times after each other.

In Civilisation 2, there was a bug that would let you permanently rename another civilisation's city when you were getting an intelligence report on it from a diplomat or spy.

Kain Highwind (Final Fantasy IV) is blond.

He wears a dragoon helmet in all the game, but when you beat the game, you can see him without his helmet.

You can kill Sims characters by building a room around them with no bed or other items. It takes a few horrifying days, but eventually the grim reaper (oh how exciting!) will get them.

One more thing: there is a cheat code to get as much money as you want with the Sims. Oh, is that not allowed in this thread?

In Final Fantasy, the broom in Matoya's cave talks backwards. If you reverse his message it says, "PRESS B AND SELECT" and it lets you see the world map when the input is performed.

Man, It's so interesting to read some of this random crap. Anyway...

Raiden, Metal Gear Solid 2's protagonist, was created after Hideo Kojima conducted a survey among several Japanese teenage girls, who protested "Who would want to play a game that has a bunch of sweaty old men running around?" Hence, Raiden was born.

In the 4th Ace Attorney/Gyakuten Saiban game, you don't play as Phoenix Wright, but a new attorney named Housuke Odoroki (He doesn't have an English name yet).

A line from the end of Final Fantasy IX seems to reference the protagonists of the previous two Final Fantasy games.

I forget who says it, but the line is: "No cloud or squall shall hinder us."

Another Soul Calibur 3 one: In the story mode, each character has a specific route they can take, which will lead to them entering a labyrinth, fighting their story-determined enemy, fighting an "Unknown Soul" who is shrouded in darkness, and then fighting the new character Olcadan, who uses a random fighting style and is very hard to beat. If you manage all of this without losing one battle, you won't fight Abyss at the end, you'll fight the much tougher Night Terror--who is much more of a traditional fighting game boss in that he cheats, has unblockable "lose half your health" moves and is generally cheap as all hell.

The three "Unknown Souls" are actually characters from the earlier games who didn't make the final roster--Arthur, Li Long and Hwang, using the generic fighting styles.

Devil May Cry was originally meant to be a new Resident Evil game, with the puppets originally being zombies.

I've mentioned this in my Smash Bros. topic but I'll mention it here too, the characters in Super Smash Bros. Melee are actually trophies that come alive and fight each other. If you look at the characters very carefully before the start of the match you can see their trophy bases. These show that the characters are trophies.

Also, beat Classic mode in less than 17 minutes on Normal difficulty or higher to fight both Master Hand and Crazy Hand. Same goes for adventure except that you fight Giga Bowser

OK, that was several random facts.

The gameworld of TES II: Daggerfall was roughly twice the size of Great Britian.
