So why do you bring threads back from the dead? There have been so many necro posts and threads in the past few months I am beginning to think its not just a website glitch. So to all you thread necromancers..I know you're here, care to explain why? Because I would like to know why more often then not I end up typing out a well thought response only to find out the thread is 5 years old...so then I effectively look like an idiot telling someone who may not even be on the site anymore what I think of their thread/post.

So would any of you necromancers care to explain what purpose you think this necromancy serves...and damn must take a while to go back and dig up such old threads, is the reward really worth the effort?

It's a use of extra time and it won't matter if it's old or new because the truth is, nobody listens to me really.

When viewing a thread, similar topics show up at the bottom of the webpage, regardless of how old they are. Most people who respond to very old threads probably click on them without noticing how old they are.

If you know that the older threads exist, and you want to discuss the same topic, then your choices are to either resurrect the dead thread (and be criticized for doing so) or start a newer thread of your own (and be criticized for doing so).

No matter what you do, you're going to be criticized for it.
