I ask this question because I've been visiting the Autism Research Centre, where they have online questionnaires for those of us on the spectrum to fill out. There's one that's all about hormones, and one of the questions was how old were you when you first started menstruating. I was a late starter, and am curious to see if that's common among us.

I got it when I was 12.

A periodic Topic

I was 13 years and 3 months. January 27th, 1968.

I entered menopause on September 4, 2006, at the age of 51 years, about two months before my 52nd birthday. Long enough.

I certainly do not miss my period. Period!

I was 12. I was in so much agony my parents nearly called an ambulance overnight for what they thought was appendicitis. But Mum had an inkling and the next morning sure enough, there it was.

I've never been regular though... well, they've always come monthly, but they're reasonably heavy and could arrive anywhere 4 or 5 days either side of the '28th day', which is annoying. Made far worse since I came off the pill (which I was on for 8 months and never want to touch again my life, it was absolute hell). Now every month I think I'm pregnant until it arrives... talk about making a nasty experience worse.

I was twelve-ish I think. Maybe just got twelve. I didn't know what was up with it, I had only heard about it distantly before.
