Anyone else in a situation where they have certain relatives they have a very difficult time psychology sharing info with them and sharing their problems with and feel the need to insist there are no problems or feel that when they have good news they have to wait until they are sure it is confirmed before telling them and have an innate fear of expressing anything that can be a problem? I was wondering if anyone else has that kind of difficulty as well.

Ah exactly the same here! I never like to tell if I have a problem and if they ask if I have a problem I always deny it and say everything is good, there's never trouble.

I hate sharing things about myself and what I'm getting up to. I feel like it's my business only and if other people try and get too close it feels so uncomfortable. :(

I also have this problem. I don't like doing it, and even if I thought it was a good idea I'd have trouble putting together those feelings into thoughts. The few times I've gone to family for emotional help, they really haven't cared. To most of them, my emotions are an inconvenience.

As I noted in another thread, some of it was simple misjudgements that caused grief I could not anticipate before. For example, one time I moved from one apartment to another one that was about a few blocks away, basically within a 25 minute walking distance if you are a fast walker. It was not like I was moving to another state or even another town or city, just changing building names within the same city. I waited until after the move to tell them that and it became a catastrophe with them being in a rage at me for several months over it. It is difficulty with things like this, not even about telling them of tragedies that are occurring.

Yes, this sounds familiar. Families are very difficult, they know too much about you but also know too little. Oscar Wilde summed it up by saying: 'Children begin by loving their parents. Eventually they judge them. Rarely if ever do they forgive them'.

I never understand why being related should mean you have a connection with someone, almost every family member I have ever felt close to was not blood related. I tend to find my families views and personalities differ quite drastically from my own yet it "shouldn't matter" as they are family? I don't get it. My mother for example. She demands that I show her love and respect but on the only two occasions I have mentioned autism to her, she has either ignored me outright or laughed in my face and then told her entire workplace about "the crap I talk about at times".

I think I can see the appeal of immigrating, then you have the best excuse for not seeing family. I hear good things about Norway...

I feel that way, but I don't experience it as a huge difficulty. I just call it being independent.
