I think becoming an optometrist involves too much school. I'm pretty sure you need to go to med school. I'm still planning to finish high school, so more places will hire me.
I think being an optician is a better fit because I also get to deal with the frames themselves. I enjoy fashion and I'm not a fan of too much school.
I did look for optician jobs online and all of them asked for good people skills. I don't know what they mean. I've met a few opticians with bad people skills, so maybe my people skills are good enough.
Another issue I have is health. My energy and motivation fluctuates a lot. Same with sensory issues. When I have sensory issues I get grumpy and hyper. Don't think people want to deal with that.
I'm fine with wearing glasses, I know that is socially acceptable. Talking about them is another story. It would be cool to be an optician because I can talk about glasses all day without looking weird.
