Hey everyone, So I have a random question about cherry pits in a smoothie I was making... I was tired (july 4th) and wanted sugar so I put grapes, blueberries, banana, strawberry, milk, and without thinking about 7-8 whole cherries (small handful). I only sip a 2-3 sips than I realized what I did so I induced vomit came out reddish and I was extremely scared but was also to go #2 (if that helps) so I called poison control she said a 1lb or more would be bad but problem is I accidentally broke the pits in the smoothie and I just wanted to know if that's bad in that amount? I'm 135 lbs, about 5'. I'm also about to get my "bloody girlfriend" lmao which is causing me headaches hoping it's not the cherry pits... Can undiagnosed lactose intolrance caus headaches/migraines? :? I have NVLD so if that helps.. :)

i'd trust poison control. sounds like you didn't eat enough to hurt you and vomited up most of what you did eat. congrats on trying to satisfy your sweet tooth with a healthy snack.

Why such fear over cherry pits?...I did not know they where toxic, figured they where just unpleasant to eat and could be difficult if you ate like a very large quantity since it probably wouldn't digest and would get your mouth full of weird seed/plant stuff that is hard to spit out.

I figure poison control is right that it wont harm you. If getting your girlfriend by itself is causing you headaches I imagine that is stress...but if you are concerned you are lactose intolerant maybe go to the doctor and find out? Or avoid dairy and see if that makes you feel better....not so sure dairy is necessary for smoothies so there are alternative ingredients if that is the case.

lactose intolerance symptoms are gastrointestinal, mostly diarrhea.

When I was a kid I swallowed orange, apple, watermelon, and grape seeds and I'm still alive today. I don't think swallowing a few cherry pits will cause any harm, and inducing vomiting (ick) is not necessary, nor is should it be done without advice from a physician.
