I think she is being sarcastic with "gem". Like how a person may say when the kitchen tap breaks, "oh that is just "great". And their Aspie child wonders why the kitchen faucet breaking makes mom happy...

What you posted sounds like the story of my life. Probably best to educate that person on your "anxiety" and if they won't listen, distance yourself from them.

She is a he.

Sorry... I'll edit my post!

If that was the response to "educating them" then all I can suggest is distance. This is a hostile and borderline abusive communication. If they are unwilling to listen, limit contact.

Well, what is your sense of humor really like?

Dry, slightly surreal, I don't really know.

Almost similar to mine!

I don't remember, did I post a reply to the introductory thread that you posted?

Unfortunately you just have to handle it - thats a philosophy a lot of people have. If you really want to assert your right to do what you want and handle your life the way you want to I'd imagine you'll have to think of a good rebuttal to that which is cocky enough to shut her up. Otherwise, if you really do need to go out, I think the thing you probably need to sort out is how you can get yourself to be at peace in certain places, what kind of self-image you need to project to yourself to feel comfortable talking to people, and I think that's something you kinda need to really enjoy that sort of experience - otherwise you just wrack up more bad and it makes you even less likely to want to go out and shoot pool with your friends, hit up the bars, go to a house party, or whatever else. If you have PTSD, just ignore her and realize that as long as your giving it all to get your head around it that's really all you can do - no matter what you try and tell yourself it still takes years to really make that dread anxiety go away and even at that its years of deliberately chipping away at it.

Same here, also though I appreciate exagerated comedy, too.

I used to watch a brittish show "are you being served". At first, it did not seem that funny, I needed "all" the jokes explained to me. But, as I "learned the rules of humor" it became more and more hillarious!

As a preteen, SNL and Weird Al where my main source of entertainment. (I still, at 30 listen to my sons Weird Al when alone, he is my friend).

We have a very dry news / politics show called this hour has 22 minutes. Very very funny stuff.

Monty Rules!

I am not familiar wit the other two, but names don't really "stick".

My Son has fallen in love with this video on youtube, (I won't admit to my own overfondness to it). If you like it, they have 3 more parts, it follows a serial plot!

This is good too... Especially with the guy in the forefront, his eyes near the end go crazy.

Generally I follow a very strick Canadian / Brittish dry or sarcastic humour. It was hard to "learn" but once I did, very addictive! Problem is, when I get dry or sarcastic, no one can tell! Because I am so hard to read!
